If it is an auto, your tranny could be having some serious issues.

Magic 8-ball says, "Outlook does not look good."Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »a bit more info please... auto, gt?It can't be a GT - it's an automatic transmission code. I'm going out on a limb and saying base Vibe w/ auto tranny here (could be AWD).Are there corresponding transmission shift problems? Since it's electrical, it is likely the ECM/PCM (big bucks), but the good news is that at least Toyota issued a TSB for this.
http://www.matrixowners.com/tsb/T-TC014-06.pdfThe bad news is that TSBs don't fall under the category of recall (which would require replacing regardless of warranty status). The good news may be that it is likely covered under the powertrain warranty which should still be intact. Specifically if it is a transmission problem, its a powertrain problem.Overall, unfortunately this one is for the dealership to sort out but I'll cross my fingers that it is covered. If the dealership denies it on warranty, you may take a chance and pick one up at Pam's Auto (here's one for a 2005 base, automatic, w/ antilock brakes
http://www.pamsauto.com/p-2525....aspx). At $175 plus shipping, that's cheaper than you will find at the dealership. However, I'd wait to buy it until dealership tells you it is the PCM. It could be a solenoid replacement...

The Toyota TSB mentioned above indicates that this repair is covered under the federal emissions-related warranty of 96 months/80 kmiles. That's separate from either the bumper-bumper or the powertrain warranties (which are only 36 months/36 kmiles for the '03 - '06 Vibes). The warranty booklet that comes with your car includes a whole set of emissions-related warranties with various time/mileage limits, some of which vary from state to state. From the EPAhttp://
www.epa.gov/oms/consumer/warr95fs.txt:"Design and Defect Warranty Coverage for 1995 and newer light-dutyvehicles: * Emission control and emission related parts are covered for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles of vehicle use; and * Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles of vehicle use. According to federal law, an emission control or emission relatedpart, or a specified major emission control component, that failsbecause of a defect in materials or workmanship, must be repaired orreplaced by the vehicle manufacturer free of charge as long as thevehicle has not exceeded the warranty time or mileage limitations forthe failed part."Does anyone know if there's a corresponding TSB from Pontiac?
