anyone tried a set of 225/50 17 tires with a set of 38 mm offset rims

I have a chance to get a set of 17X7 inch alloys with a 38 mm offset and have four 225/50 17 summer tires to go on them. Will these tires fit a stock Vibe without interference if I use that rim? The 225/50 17 has a 1/2 inch larger overall diameter than the optional 215/50 17 available for the Vibe and .3 inches wider as well. I've also been trying to find out the offset of the optional OEM Pontiac 17 inch alloy. Any info or experiences/suggestions about all this would be great.

dont go expecting an answer on the offset too soon, as ive posted a similar questiong regarding largest offset possible on a set of 18X8 rims and yet nobody has ever answered that question out of all the peeps on this website.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireS...ubmitThe tires are 3.8% larger (3% max recommended) 60mph would show as 57.7mph.They will fit no problem, there's plenty of room. 3.8% is not that bad. My brother has 275/40/17 tires on his Vibe.OEM 17 rims are 35 offset.

Ok, looks like the 38 mm offset should work... although with a taller and wider tire, I still would like to know if they would hit anything in the wheel wells. Also concerned about the tire ending up outside the fender line. I'm familiar with indicated speed changes due to tire diameter differences. Anyone else with this size tire size (225/50 17) on their Vibes out there? btw Raven, I saw your brothers pics... those wheel/tires are incredible. He had to make modifications to run them. What did he do?

He had adaptor plates machined because the wheels were off his 1970 Camaro Z28. Your tires will fit, no problem. They won't stick out or hit/rub on anything.

Thanks Raven. Don't know how your road surfaces hold up, but here in Maine we have a reputation for nasty secondary road conditions from late winter into late spring. If you run anything close to low profile (40 aspect ratio or less) you can easily do serious wheel damage. You can destroy a quality truck wheel around here if you don't pay close attention.
