(After visiting the ScionZone wiki...)3. How is the GenVibe Wiki going to be substantially different than the specific GenVibe forums we already have??? IMHO most of the information that the Wiki would contain is already here. Why re-enter it?

if data was in the wiki it would be much easier to search for things as forum search engines....can be very hard to use.

OK, I'm being the nasty one to take that load off of Nick...The wiki page has been up there for a while, yes. Nothing has been done with it because we're trying to decide on the final format and so on for it.Now as for this update stuff, it's been said before that the VOTM relies on the winners sending in writeups. I'd further like to note that as has been discussed MANY times, the real content of this site is the forum and unless I"m mistaken, THAT is updated daily. To that end, our dedication to this site is keeping the forums organized and functional for our members.Any time the front page has been updated, I think a whole TWO percent of the members have ever mentioned it. That tells me that it's pretty much irrelevant and most people are just here for the forum.Anyway, I think it's time to cut the little back-handed comments and go on about your lives. If you don't like what's on the front page, check the forums. There's always something going on.

I wasn't giving a back-handed comment to you, Wes, or any of the other mods. What you guy do on a daily basis is great! This isn't about you.I was only referring to the countless times that Nick has stated that there would be updates "next week" or "in a couple weeks" and no changes are ever made. If it is not going to be updated then don't keep stringing us along. That's all. Empty Promises.I love this site and want to see it get better, but to maintain a state of goodwill, I promise to NEVER bring up this subject again.

I didn't take anything personally and BC, it's not really YOU I'm talking to about being backhanded. I realize yours was mostly tongue in cheek and you just mentioned it in passing. It's when there are entire threads dedicated to it and it's all this negative "nobody ever does anything for us" stuff that it gets pretty old.So, Brian I'm sorry if it looked like I'm ripping on you because I'm not. You were just kind of the innocent bystander who inadvertently sparked the firestorm. In any case, I think the net result will be just removing the front page and redirecting straight to the forum. Problem solved.

Awww hell, I offend you at every corner. At any rate, once a final format is decided upon for the Wiki it will be similar to the one at scionzone. Just kind of a supplement to the forums. An easy way to find important info without having to cruise multiple threads.

Thanks for the info. I only just noticed the wiki link today. I did search, and there were no prior threads about a genvibe wiki, so I asked. Didn't mean to start any troubles. Next time I won't post such questions publiclyA wiki could be useful, but I will ignore it until someone asks for input.

Joat, no worries. YOU didn't start any trouble, that only started when we got into the "probably never" stuff again. Honestly, I thought there was a thread out there explaining it and I was going to link to it but it turns out it was an announcement to the Mods just saying it was going to be up and running as soon as things could be sorted out with it. Anyway, these questions are ALWAYS welcome just so long as they come with the understanding that these updates take time when they're being handled by people with already demanding jobs.I just had an axe to grind with a few people who are generally quite rude in "asking" for updates and then even when they do get done continue to complain about how things aren't perfect. I'll say one more thing folks... this is a privately funded site and I, for one, thank our funders for the grace they give in keeping it running but my job, Nick's job, Kari's job, Rich and Sam and Sputnik... we don't get paid for this in any way. Therefore, so long as the forums are running and everyone can talk I'll be frank the rest will come as we find the time. Speaking strictly for myself, my passion on this site is has and always will be the people and the social aspect of helping those people with their problems and keeping the site in an order that the information is always available and in a friendly manner.I guess what I'm really saying here, people is that we will "try" to keep the front page updated if we decide to stay with it. However, when it comes to the forums, we WILL make sure you have the best we can provide! All I ask is that you work with us to keep this place going instead of against us.Look for the wiki to come soon, OK. I'm sure it's something you'll enjoy.

aye aye cap'n, standing ready to man the wiki, I didn't take your replies as indicating I had transgressed, and if I had asked via IM, it would have avoided all the rehashing of the update theme. I don't know how much time I'll be able to wikify, but let me know when you want me to start

At this point, the answer is that the setup is confusing and we just want to make sure it's done right so it works right and is truly a helpful resource. Now that everyone knows it's there, I guess it'll be that much more important to get it done relatively soon.
