I changed my cabin filter a while back, and broke the door off! I'm glad it's hiding behind the glovebox and I can't see the duct tape holding it together.

This is my second Vibe and I still forgot to reverse the instructions in the manual and broke the clip.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has done this.

Since I started this thread, I must add that I couldn't believe how nasty the filter was. I don't think the previous owners ever changed it. There were pine needles and other little parts from trees plus lots of plain old dirt.

I did this on my honda, go buy a furnace filter and cut it up and hot glue it to the old one minus filter material.i guessing it would filter way better than the oem one too.

a member here in Hawaii went to change his filter, and we have NO clue how this happened, but there was a napkin that got caught in the filter.

Just picked up a 2005 Vibe yesterday and checked the cabin filter this morning, probably hasn't been changed during the 65,000 km on the car. (The salesman at the Pontiac dealership didn't even know there was a filter!) I've been reading about the tabs breaking on the filter compartment, the manual instructions say 'lift the snaps on the filter cover', but my cover releases when you push down on the tabs no wonder people report the tabs breaking Now to go try the furnace filter trick.

being 6'-5" tall..I had to lay the seat flat after releasing the glovebox door. So, it makes sense to me since I am lying on my back, on my head in the passenger floorboard area...lift means push...push means lift...
