Tranny Cooler NPT Inlet/Outlet Size

Hey guys,I'm getting conflicting reports on what size NPT fittings my tranny cooler should have. I was first told 1/2" but others tell me that's too big. The 1/2" NPT coolers tend to be very big and rarely come with mounting hardware so if one of the other coolers work that'd be a big plus. Thanks!

Ya, I got you IM, thanks. But another person has said 1/2" fittings. But if you got a cooler with the 3/8" barbs and it worked then that works for me. 3/8" and 1/2" is very close...either way I think you could slide it on.

If you stretch the hose that much you will weaken the sides of the hose causing it to split a lot sooner than you think. My 2c... get the right size fitting or hose.

I wouldn't jam a smaller hose over a larger barb. I'd put a 1/8" larger hose over a smaller barb, though, with the right hose clamp. I just ordered one with the 3/8" barb. I think it'll work just fine. Don't worry, I'll do it right. I always play it safe.

No problem, man. It worked out better this way as it comes with all the mounting hardware. I'll let all know how it goes.
