Marathon Drive

In a moment of sheer stupidity me and a three other friends decided to drive to Toronto from Saskatoon SK to watch our beloved Rougriders in the grey cup(Canadian Football league). So with a quick oil change we were off.We left for the trip on a Thursday morning hoping to arrive in Toronto the next day sometime in the afternoon. Our original plan was to head down through the states but we got to the border one of our crew realized that he left his license at home, so after a few heated words and few wasted hours we turned around and headed north through northern Ontario. Going the northern route added about 4 hours to our trip, so needless to say I wasn't a happy camper. The trip there went well, we got to Toronto 32 hours later and 29,000 km only stopping for fuel and food. The game went well as we won and the partying was great but I sure was dreading the drive home. On the way home in northern Ontario we saw six moose on the road through the night. Once we got to Thunder Bay(1/2 way) it started ti snow and snow and snow, and the traffic started to get lighter and lighter, but with sheer stupidity and determination we kept on trucking through. The snow lasted for about four hours, and for about a 1/2 hour of that we where plowing snow as it was coming over the hood. I must say the plow trucks in northern Ontario are the best I've seen there was a truck plowing about every twenty miles. We would have turned around or stopped but where we where in northern Ontario in the middle of the night,we really had no choice but to keep trucking. Once we got to Manitoba it was clear sailing at 130 the rest of the way home.I must say that my vibe held up rather well with 4 big guys in it for 64 hours straight and approx 5700 km. I am still trying to get the stink of 4 sweaty guys out of my car though. I averaged 40.8 mpg(canadian gallons) which I thought was decent for driving 120 most of the way. Although the trip was a great time with some great friends I would never in my life do it again. I think my back is still sore from trying to sleep in the back seat.
