Alot of speculation that Toyota wants out of NUMMI. Do you think Pontiac would (or could) keep producing a vehicle like the Vibe? You would think they learned some things over the 20 yrs in Fremont, but maybe you those things don't translate to a regular GM plant, I don't know.

The Vibe does not fit in with Pontiacs current vision of RWD sporty cars and Chevy already has the HHR in the same basic niche as the Vibe. So I think they would use the resources on some other vehicle development.

There's been speculation for years that Toyota wants out of NUMMI. That's been a rumor for awhile.Given that the NUMMI joint venture was a way for Toyota to increase American sentiment for Toyota cars (having a Union shop) and a way for GM to show they were improving their small car design and manufacturing quality.I'm sure Toyota would love to get out of NUMMI for union issues alone, but it hasn't been a strong enough desire to warrant it before. I don't see this happening anytime soon.
