So Long Old Friend...

Tonight I signed the papers to trade my beloved Sputnik, 2003 Vibe, in for a 2008 Nissan Rogue. Although Sputnik will still be with me, as I'm transferring the personalized plates to the new car. They still have to locate the exact one that I want but it will be red! I have wanted a red car forever!

Congratulations and I hope you enjoy your new car. What was it about the Nissan that caused you to choose that instead of another Vibe or to hold out for a 2009 Vibe? Just curious as they are simiiar type cars.

The 2009 Vibe didn't really do it for me - initially I liked it, but the more I looked at it the more I didn't. And usually when I get a new car I like it to be different than my current vehicle - its just part of the fun of it for me I think. I also really LOVED the (black and red) interior of the Rogue.

Congrats!! Honestly, I was pulling for the Vue - I think that the quality and fit and finish of Saturn has greatly improved. I had the opportunity to drive the Saturn Aura a few months ago. I wasn't happy about it when I was told what it was, but it blew me away in apparent initial quality.

I agree, the Saturn Vue is a really nice SUV as well. It just felt a bit too big.

He said a week to two weeks before I get it.As for Mod free... hm, well the windows are already tinted, so right now the only mod I'm thinking is a satellite radio (I added it to my xmas list), as I didn't add that option package.

Enjoy your new ride. I'm going to look at the Rouge's after this post.I've got to agree. The 09 Vibes just don't cut it for me compared to my 04. The grill and the overall shape make it look very tame. I liked the agressive front grill of the 03/04 years WITH the roof racks!!Also, it is probably time to trade in soon for you. Ottawa winters eat cars for breakfast. I'm seeing rust already and its my forth winter. The salt here is insane, then again facing nose down in a ditch would not be appealing.Keep in touch and thanks for moderating Andrew

Hmmm, sputnik, and now red, are you a communist ?The dash layout of the rogue looks a lot like a vibe's, so you can carry that much with you to the new vehicle.Your new car will have it's own beer

Since we named our Vibe, Sputnik, we are trying to name our Rogue. The hubby likes Sputnik2 just for kicks, and I liked Mini Me (mimi for short) as in a Mini Murano. Still waiting for it...

So some of you might be wondering... where are pics of Sputnik's Rogue!? Well peoples, I myself am wondering that - where the heck is my new car!? I at least have the VIN, but damn how long can it take to get it from 2 hours away?? I heard from them on Tuesday that they were supposed to go get it yesterday and I would be called when it had arrived so we could arrange a delivery time... I'M STILL WAITING! Tomorrow someone's getting a phone call...

So I guess it's a bittersweet deal.I've still got mine and use it almost every day. I love mine and I'll probably run it into the ground. She's in need of some attention so this spring I'll have to have some work done to it but still runs perfect and as strong as ever. Just shy of 70,000 miles now and I took delivery of it with only 16 miles on it in September of 2002. My Vibe is now the car that I've owned the longest, lots of memories with it. It will be a very sad day for me when I finally have to retire it.But congrats on your new car Sputnik. May it bring you many trouble free miles of fun!

So, question for you all...When I signed my purchase agreement (almost 2 weeks ago) Nissan had a deal on where the Rogue got a $500 prepaid visa card - you had the option of taking the card (mailed to you in 3 or 4 weeks), or taking $500 of your down payment. I took the $500 off my downpayment (meaning I'd owe $1000 instead of $1500 on delivery). Now Nissan has upped that to $1500 on the Rogue instead of $500. Am I entitled to the extra $1000 that wasn't available when I signed the agreement to purchase??

the ads say see your dealer for full details, but since you haven't accepted the vehicle yet, then you have leverage. Tell the dealer to give you the full $1500 or the deal is off

But wouldn't they just take my initial $1000 I already paid them?
Re: So Long Old Friend... (Sputnik)

honestly, I don't know how it can be worked out. If you already paid $1000 and were counting on the $500 offer to make up the difference, maybe they can mail you the prepaid VISA for the $1000. Would you get your $1000 down back if you just cancelled the deal altogether? I guess all I am recommending is to try really hard to get the $1500 deal, instead of settling for the $500. Even if you have to step out of character and scream, a grand is worth a little screaming. If they wanted to only give you the $500, then they should have already closed the deal instead of delaying

Good news! I am entitled to the full $1500 incentive and therefore no longer owe any money on delivery! Ya! And I get the car on Wednesday. I guess this delay has worked in my favour since this promotion wasn't worth $1500 a few days ago!

Excellent! Did you ask them if you wait a few more days, will they bump it up to an even $2K? Did you get it yet, and if so, where are the pics?

No I get the car on Wednesday. Apparently they have not had enough staff or good weather to go down and get my car, but said they are "for certain" going on Monday afternoon.

I had that happen to me when I bought an 04 cavalier some years ago. When i signed the paper work gm was offering 1000.00 as an insentive. The night I went to pick up the car the deal changed to 4000.00 and the dealer didn't even blink an eye at giving me the extra cash.I still think you should have gotten the vue.
