Talk about a bad day.

Wow,the wife was just in an accident with the Vibe this morning. The whole front is pushed in.The reporting center estimated $2500 for the repairs.IT will need a new front bumper, and luckily I had Todd's fog-light protectors because it saved them. After that we got a phone call from one of Vera's sisters, and her mom fell down a flight of stairs and bumped her head, they said she's non-responsive and in a coma. The cat-scan revealed massive amounts of blood on the brain,so we are getting ourselves ready for her passing away.I'm off to the hospital now.Man,what a rough day.

Thanks for the super kind words everyone, just reading them bring tears to my eyes.I just got back from the hospital, been there all day. They relieved the pressure on her mom's brain. But the bad news was she had a heart attack, she's in ICU right now,not sure if it's good or bad news yet,we will know tomorrow.I'm so tired of waiting and standing up at the hospital,I haven't even thought about the Vibe.Vera is fine from the accident, the vibe took a good hit on the front, she slid 30 feet on black ice and hit a new BMW,I even had the x-ices on.Luckily I took the body kit off last weekend, but the hood got smashed in a little and it's all fraid on the lip.I might just order the JSP hood for now,or see if they can repair it.I appreciate all the prayers and wishes, and want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart.

if you don't mind me asking how old is your wifes mother? For all of that to happen from a slip and fall she's got to be in her 70-80ies?

She's 69 years old, mother of 8 kids. She fell walking up the stairs, with hands full of laundry and a bucket of water. But when she fell back, she hit her head on the corner of the door. She still thinks she's in her 20's.

I have good news from the hospital. When we went to see Vera's Mom yesterday, she was eating and was able to talk and her color had come back. The doctors were happy with her progress. They did however find she had 2 broken ribs from the fall. The doctors also told us that reason she fell was because she had a heart attack. So,she had 2 heart attacks that day,the second was a mild one just after surgery. The doctors told us that she will make a great recovery, but she will have to stay at least 7 days so they can monitor her.I really want to say thank you to everyone for their prayers, because something helped her get through all of this.

I just heard an update about Vera's Mom.She did an angiogram this afternoon and it showed that she had a blockage on her heart and had some damage that didn't show up earlier. She was transferred to another hospital so they can do one of 2 things.A heart bypass or a (I'm not sure what they called it)they insert a balloon into one of the valves and try to remove the blockage. The safest for her since she had a stroke 4 years ago was the balloon method. So,things aren't as good as told to us on Saturday.I feel bad for Vera, she stayed with her mom since Sunday morning with no sleep, she got home about an hour ago.

the balloon thing is called an angioplasty. My dad had that several years ago. My prayers will be with you and your family.

the thing they insert into the coronary arteries is called a stent, its a small, mesh, tube-like device. a lot these days are drug eluting which means they are coated with an anticoagulant so it doesn't clot up again, its actually fairly simple (well as simple as you can get for working on a heart) and it usually lasts quite a few years, then they can install a new one if its needed...i worked in a cath lab and have seen them installed...I really wish her the best of luck, with good doctors, she will be fine in a few weeks, she just shouldn't do strenuous stuff unless its absolutely necessary...she will be fine, dont worry sorry about the car too but the car is replaceable, your family is not...

wow! i totally missed this! I'm very very sorry to hear about all the bad luck recently with our members. Kev, any update on Vera's mom? How is she doing??? I'm sure the car will be fine, but more or less, how did the surgery go?

Thanks for checking in Hope. The surgery went well, she had it done on Monday afternoon. The bad thing was on Tuesday, after her surgery as she was going to the bathroom she fell again and hit her head. She was rushed for a cat-scan,but everything seemed to be OK.She was released from the hospital last night , Vera and I picked her up drove her home, got her all settled. So,everything looks good so far, just keeping our fingers crossed.I'm going over later to make up some quick meals,so she can pop them in the microwave when she gets hungry(she loves my cooking)so she doesn't have to prepare anything.I still haven't heard anything on the Vibe though,it's been 2 weeks she has been there.I really want her back so I can stop driving the Yaris.
