If you look where it connects to the door, on the inside you will see either a flat plate or tweeter. Take a flathead and pry that off, it will pop out fairly easily. Once that is out you will notice there are 3 bolts, probably 7mm or so in size. Ratched those off and be sure to disconnect the power mirror if you have that option. Typically the bolts are setup a few ways.1) Double sided where the bolt is screwed into the mirror, then the other part is put through the holes in the door and another bolt is added to hold.2) bolts go through the door and into the mirror3) Self tappers.I am not sure which the Trix/Vibe is as I have never replaced a mirror. But most of the cars I have dealt with are the #1 kind with a double ended bolt. If your replacement came with these already your in business, most likely they did not though so just take them off the old mirror and put them on the new, slide into the holes, put on the bolts and hand tighten, connect the power and tighten with a ratchet. Do not torque them like crazy or you will crack them and strip the threads. Just tight enough.

From what I remember, you have to take the door panel off to unplug the power for the mirror.

That would be crappy. You can't just pull it up from inside the panel?

For surface scratches out of like cladding style plastic, unpainted that is.I would look into the Diamondite stuff. I've never used it personally but I hear a lot of good things about its use.
