11-12-07 WStJrl Article on "Loonie's Sharp Rise":On page C-2, "Among the biggest losers are Canadian auto dealers. So many Canadians are heading to the U.S. to buy cars that the Canadian Border Services began offering classes on how to navigate the bureaucracy upon their return. Registration for nearly all of the 30 initial classes filled up quickly. So it apparently is possible. Perhaps easier to do on a used car. Also perhaps there s a problem getting warranty coverage for new or balance of warranty on used.

Most new cars will not be warrantied by the manufacturer if it is purchased in the US and brought into Canada.Used is OK.

I checked the price of a base Subaru Outback Wagon and it was $7,500.00 cheaper in the USA. That's more than a 25% discount. That's worth a drive once in a while for warranty work. The loaded models have even greater savings. I have'nt checked out a Vibe because I doubt I'll ever buy another one.

I saw on TV that most eastern seaboard states will not sell to Canadians. Some dealers in Ottawa are advertising prices lower that US prices... I'm tellin' ya, if Saturn does that, Sputnik will be gone by Christmas. I'm already 75% convinced to do it by then anyway, added incentives like that would just push me to actually do it.
