Who all has driven a cobalt ss s/c?

I got bored today after class and went to test drive some random cars that the local gm dealer had, told them i was looking to get rid of the vibe because its slow as molasses, the lady showed me to a bright yellow used '06 cobalt ss s/c and we hopped in and took it for a test drive, well crap, this thing has soooooo much torque compared to the vibe its not even funny, i dropped it into 2nd at about 35 and let it rip and the blower was whining like crazy, im really starting to like that car...the tranny was soo tight compared to the vibe too, it practically clicked into each gear...not to say i dont like my vibe but i would love it a lot more if it had that kind of pick up, would anyone else like to see a drivetrain like that in the 09 vibe gt? *spinal shiver*

That's not bad.... but I just couldn't buy one... yeah it's fun once in a while, but I feel like I would always want to put my foot into it, and I'm sure I would get a few tickets... plus you can't really fit 4 comfortably in it...

i mash my foot down in the vibe all the time, too bad it doesnt go any faster when i do so...i have only got one speeding ticket in my day and it was on a 3 day journey from texas to wyoming...i donno, i get horrible gas milage as it is so i would like a bit more power/torque to get the car moving...the vibe is truly horrible when i have it loaded down...it wont even hold 55 on this stretch of uphill highway we have near me... not being able to hold 4 people would be a virtue to me :Di am a teenager too, and ive always been a fan of forced induction...

I test drove the Cobalt ss and it was nice. Good acceleration and handling. Unfortunately, I tested it on the same day as a Z06 so it lost in the fun factor.

we test drove the saturn ion redline s/c. wasn't very impressive, however was a little unfair to compare to our current list of vehicles and just after taking an EVO MR9 out for a spin moments before.

Of course it wasn't fully broken in yet and so all the power potential was locked away.Yeah it was no MR9 lol.I'd sooner take a speed 3 though.

I've driven a few. I just don't like a Cobalt, the interior is rubbish. 15~20K they have so many rattles and squeaks...

the only upside to the cobalt S/C is it's relatively inexpensive to mod and get the car pretty quick. think SRT4 but GM's version. and not near as much power to the wheels as the SRT4 either. i'd rather buy a Speed3 if I were to choose between the 2, for about the same price, you get Mazda quality and more performance and utility (hatch).

(removed) my friend has the 07 SS SC balt and that sucker MOVES. just with GM performance parts stage 1-3 that sucker is going up to 300hp. stock it handles very well. Just watch those vids from Poolboyz he has driving his car with sti's, vettes, evo's and keeps up or beats them in twisty roads. But if you got the money you may want to consider the turbo SS but 18k for a SC balt is cheap...ive been...looking at them.....muahahah

like i said, one of the benefits is it's cheap to mod and make power. however, anyone with good driving skills can outperform (road course and drag) faster/better vehicles. now just think what that guy could do in an Evo or built STI. with just a stg 3 set up, he's pushing 300 hp, that's about the same as i'm pushing on my LGT, but awhp/tq. if i was a better driver (i still suck) it wouldn't matter what i drove, i'd still be able to kick some of the faster cars butts! this is why some of the slower cars will still smoke me in autox, even though my car is fully capable of leaving them in the dust, handling, power, suspension, etc. it's the driver mod that i've got to work on the most! stg 3 sti/evo will net a good 400+ whp. put a great driver behind the wheel and you get a travis pastrana or colin mcrae (RIP CM). just think what a stg 3 Z06 would be!!!!

But what it all comes down to is bang for ur buck.....the ss has to be just like the z06,the best fun and performence in a car for the money u can buy...I mean here in Canada.a sti will cost you well into the high 30's...and fully fully loaded ss is only 27,to 29 if u get the slip differentail..so as the commerical says.whats in ur wallet..mine would have more$$$ in it with the ss.lol

LOL. well, bang for buck, the STI in the US is one of the best for your money. $32K gets you 305hp/305 tq, AWD, DCCD (adjustable power to front and back wheels), Brembo BBK, handling like a true race car, HID, moveable headlights, and all kinds of bells and whistles.you look at a Cobalt SS S/C to have somewhat similar features (you can't because it's only FWD and you won't come close to the bells and whistles) for $20K. if you want the best bang for buck in a somewhat entry level performance type vehicle and you don't mind the FWD/tq steer, a Mazdaspeed3 is actually the best $$$ for what you get. 263 hp turbo charged engine, gobs of low end power and very nicely done, handling is not quite up to par as the STI but not that much less either for $23K fully loaded. plenty of a/m support for them too. like i said, Cobalt SS S/c is not in the same class as the STI or EVO. sorry, it goes the same for the STI/EVO not being in the same class as a Z06 or Porsche! and my point was that if that guy is that good of a driver, can you imagine how good he'd be if you put him in a superior handling/power vehicle??? it's like one of our friends, he drives an impreza sport wagon 2.5i, non turbo. he smokes our times in autox, just a phenomenal driver! we stuck him in a stg 2 STI and holy crap!!! he was just below the top 3 or 4 drivers who've been driving a lot longer! as i said, my car is fully capable of smoking everyone, but I can't drive it to get there! LOL. bottom line: good drivers will make ANY car fast, no matter what it is.

09 cobalt ss turbo beat the sti around the nur. ring they are in two categories, awd and fwd and two price ranges so...if someone can afford a awd of course they'd go for a subie..my friend was ball'in on a budget and the ss was right in that price range.
