All the US auto makers are going through hard times... Being American, there is a certain amount of arrogance that goes with it, in that we think we are the best at everything... Then Toyota,Honda, Nissan and the rest, slaps us in the face with higher build standards, better quality production, happier workers because of more "normalcy" in the overall workforce...ect... It's a dam shame, but mostly true... As the saying goes "They don't make'em like they USED to"

You hate to see people unemployed but that's the reality of business and it may suck in the short-term but you can only hope that it helps everyone in the long-term. They also cut 4 models. I think they should have cut more. The Challenger should be successful for a while, the Journey is kinda stupid, and we'll have to see how the Hybrid Durango/Aspen turns out.

Given that the average person only has a car for about 5 years before they sell it, that means it's actually about half as long as the 10 year warranties that are on the market.It's only useful if you plan on keeping your car a long time.

I'm pretty sure that's what Chrysler is banking on. If everyone kept their car for 20 years, they would probably be in trouble.

its a shame that they are cutting those jobs, also cutting some of the cars ie Crossfire and Magnum both great cars but the pacifica and the PT cabrio both have their own issues. IMO

It makes sense that they got rid of the Crossfire since it's a Mercedes SLK with a Chrysler body (no more relationship with Daimler). The Pacifica was too much like a van. The Magnum just needed a refresh. The PT Cruiser is Pre-T Ghey.

That lifetime powertrain warranty is a huge attraction for me. I hope that they keep it until I get to buying another car, and that Chrysler sells something competitive to meet my requirements.---that's a lot of people affected, I hope Chrysler can fix their problems and build back up tp rehire them (and more) soon. I learned to turn a wrench on late 60's Chargers, Challengers, Road Runners, and have always felt some MOPAR allegiance

MOST people would be better off with a 10 year warranty that they can transfer to somebody else (increasing the resale value of the car).

It's cyclical in nature.Ditto!!!! Well said! Many do not understand what it really is like here in Mich without living here and fearing for jobs and seeing the high unemployment rates. GM, Ford and Chrysler will turn it around for sure but it will not be quckily.And the Crossfire was stopped due to sales. It did not sell well since day one in coming over to the states. It was not launched well either. MB is still integrated with Chrysler hence the Sprinter and components. Daimler still owns a large share of stock too.

Currently Jeep seems to be the only brand making $$$. They are ditching the Commander and Compass. Sucks cause I wanted a Commander so bad, actually my fiance wanted one more than me.We love her 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade, I have been in a Jeep family since 97 when we got our first Cherokee Classic, then, 99 Cherokee Sport, then 03 Grand Cherokee Laredo, now the Liberty. Love Jeeps, always have, always will.
