Just wanted to say good bye to everyone. The Vibe will be officially sold next weekend.I've been busy cleaning her up and finishing the loose ends.It was nice being a part of the GenVibe family, but it's time to move on.I will miss the Vibe very much,it's all happened so fast.I just finished her the way I always wanted her.Anyways be cool and hopefully the mazdaspeed3 will fill the Void the Vibe left.

Yes, you don't have to be a Vibe or Subaru owner to hang out here.

I figured something was up.. You hadn't been posting on here in a while. I hate to see it go, if you sell to a private party make sure you tell them about the genvibe website! Your car can live on in this site.Any plans to part out any part of the vibe? You could probably get more money than selling it as is...

Thanks for all the kind words everyone, unfortunately it's not making my decision any easier.I've never been so attached to a vehicle,I luv the Vibe. The wife is really mad at me for making this decision, really mad.She doesn't like the Mazda very much. The guy that's going to buy the Vibe is a cop,and he's been to my house about 10 times already with his family and friends showing it off to them.I'm worried if I change my mind now he will through me in jail, lol.I'm torn, and really bummed out.I've been trying to stay away from Gen-Vibe to make it all easier but it hasn't helped. My other choice was a Subie, but the STI is 52 grand out the door here in Canada and the WRX is 34 grand the way I want her,but the Mazda is 31,000 out the door.I didn't want to buy another vehicle for a while since the wife wants to start a family soon, she even gave me permission to build another bike if I keep the Vibe.I feel I can't back out of this now, can't you tell I'm having a seriously hard time with this.

well in all honest opinion..i say you keep the vibe..1) you spent to much money on it to just start over..2) you already have it payed off..if you get the MS3 you'll be paying for that little by little all over again..and 3) you cant leave us besides if you really want one..you can save up some money and get it later on..or just save your money for your family when you do start one

Soon there has to be an adjustment. Can you buy a car in the U.S., pay the VAT and bring it into Canada?

Honestly, if you have not signed a contract, nor signed over the title the car is still yours, it's not too late....The best thing to say if you decide that you do want to keep the vibe is simply: I'm sorry I was making a rash decision, that I cannot and should not make. I hate to back out of this deal, and I am very sorry, but due to certian circumstances (ahem, something like starting a family, or something else...) I have made the final decision that I cannot sell my car now. If things do change in the future you can be the first I call, and if you would like I can setup a written contract with you that states you will be the first I call...Sorry man just trying to help you out if you decide if you do want to back out of the deal.

Mav is not happy with me and my decision to sell the LGT and buy a new STI next year. I still have a few things left on the car to do and the parts sitting in the garage. I'm not sure exactly when i'm getting the car yet, but i'm really torn because i love this car so much but i really want the new sti hatch. i miss the utility of the Vibe. on one hand, i can see how the MS3 will meet the performance wants (and i highly recommend if you don't need AWD) and utility of a hatch (though not as much room as the Vibe). However, you just spent a lot of money and time on the Vibe this last summer to get it to the point of how you want the car, hate to see you get rid of her and really regret it. Just remember, though the MS3 comes stock with performance, let's be realistic and know it won't be long before you decide to mod it.

Greetings!I've been lurking and learning, here for over 2 months, purchased my Vibe in September, am still doing mods and getting ready for her official unveiling to you all.ANYWAY, if you're really having second (and third) thoughts about selling the Vibe, do what all grown , married men do when in this situation...Blame your change of mind on your Wife... !No other man, cop or not, is going to argue with you on that point... If you say that she's really Pissed and not talking to you.. no one is going to ask you to ruin your relationship over a car. Keep the Vibe, Go practice on starting that family, and build another bike..Good Luck.. !Lorrie

So the impediment is not the Canadian government, nor opposition by Canadian auto dealers, but rather the U.S. auto companies? I am surprised that the manufacturers would be able to control to whom their "independent" dealers sell their cars. Of couse the manufacturer could void any warranty outside the U.S. Can a Canadian buy a used car in the U.S. from a private individual and take it back to Canada? I suppose if it were easy then Canadian dealers would be importing used cars from the U.S. to sell which would upset the Canadian resale market (as I assume the value of a used car in Canada is related to how much it costs to buy that car new in Canada).

Thanks for the Ideas guys and gals.I called the guy and told him we need to talk,I'd rather do it face to face than on the phone.I told Vera what I decided and she said she has a surprise for me later, haha .So,that means I will be keeping the Vibe.I needed to hear someone put it in perspective for me.I've been all over the place with this decision and if there is any doubt,I shouldn't do it then. So,I guess you won't be getting rid of me so soon.I'm also glad I didn't sign any papers yet on the Mazda,I would have had regrets then.

Glad to hear you're sticking around. Do take lorrielk's advice. If this guy is married or dating, he will understand. I use the same excuse everytime my boss asks me to cover a midnight shift. Even if you change your mind again and go to sell it, consider asking for more money next time And welcome to genvibe It's a funny story how this all came about.About 2 weeks ago, that cop pulled the wife over on her way home from work.He asked her if the Vibe was for sale because he had seen it numerous times driving down that same road, and she told him no way.But he was persistent and asked to talk to her husband(me)who the Vibe was registered to.He then called me and made an offer, but I told him the I had just finished the Vibe the way I wanted her.He did make a fair offer,I was going to make some cash off it,but I wasn't ready to sell.He showed up that weekend with his partner and showed real interest and I gave in.After I agreed to think about it,he then showed up with his wife and son and I felt obligated to go through with the deal.I'm glad I posted up this thread because I had my doubts and some of the comments here, made me really think what I wanted. He's coming over tonight,so I can't wait to give him the bad news.

I hope he doesn't place any "contraband" on your person now I'll be buying a new car in a year or two, but I'll still keep the Vibe most likely. I like the Mazdaspeed3 as well, but it just has too much power for FWD and is a torque steer nightmare. I'll probably be in for the WRX hatch.

Ahahaha,I'm not in jail. The expression on his face when I told him was priceless.I giggled a bit. Then he turned angry sort of,and told me that I wasn't very nice for leading him on about the sale.Anyways, that's over with and Vera is happy again and I feel like some pressure has been lifted off my chest. After all of this,I think the Vibe will be with us forever,or until she falls apart. But the Mazda would have been nice,so would have the WRX,wish they were cheaper though. Thanks to everyone for putting this in perspective.

actually, the MS3 isn't too bad on torque steer, especially being FWD. however, there is noticeable lag due to that. i guess that's better than spinning your wheels. Kev, update!!!!
