thermostat replacement question

I'm going to flush the cooling system and replace the thermostat this weekend. Looking at the engine it looks like the easiest way to get to the thermostat is to remove the alternator. I did a search and found a thread with pictures about replacing the thermostat but I get an error message about the pictures and my computer locks up. Anyone done it yet and have any tips?BTW it's a 2003 base Vibe.

Not sure if you still need advice but I have done this job. I simply moved the alternator out of the way and did not remove it. The hard part was aligning the one alternator bracket up to the alternator after wards. I just could not get it so I walked away and tried again. Man it sucked!
