An article in Pontiac Performance Magazine mentions me and VivaVibe in this article about fuel economy. Are any other GenViber's mentioned?------------------------------Fuelin’ Good :: As gas prices hurt, Vibe eases pain with leading fuel efficiency With gasoline prices hovering around outrageous, getting the most miles for your money is more important than ever. The good news is, your Vibe ranks among the best in relieving the pressure of the pricy pump.In fact, J.D. Power and Associates includes the Vibe on its top 10 list of “Vehicles With the Highest Fuel Efficiency.” A kind of “who’s who” among fuel efficient vehicles, the J.D. Power list features such notable fuel misers as hybrid-powered vehicles and the compact Chevy Aveo. According to the EPA, the Vibe model with a 5-speed manual transmission serves up an estimated 26 mpg in the city and 33 highway mpg. Automatic models deliver an equally impressive 25 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway. 1 But, what do those numbers mean in the real world? To find out, Pontiac Performance asked a few Vibe owners how far they’ve driven on a single tank of gas.On the road again “In June I traveled 423 miles from Omaha, Neb., to Merritt Reservoir [a Nebraska recreation area in the north central region of the state] and then home in my 2005 all-wheel-drive model,” says Kenny Poe of Valentine, Neb.Tom Cramer of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., reports: “I frequently travel to Long Island and like the security of having to only fill up once on the trip — which still leaves me many miles to spare.”Tom and his wife, Carol, both drive 2003 Vibes. “I usually get between 400 to 410 miles on a tank with mine,” Tom says about his 5-speed manual-equipped Pontiac. “Carol drives an automatic and gets about 31-32 mpg in the summer.”This summer, Joel McElwee, 29, of Franklin, Ohio, says his 2005 Vibe automatic carried him to a Vibe meet in Shelby Township, Mich., and almost half way home (around 412 miles) on a single tank. “I could have gone farther but my ‘get gas, you idiot’ light came on while passing a gas station with low prices so I wanted to fill up,” explains McElwee. In Florida, David Johnson of Jacksonville, who drives an ’04 automatic, says: “The best so far has been a bit over 412 miles on three quarters of a tank while driving from South Carolina to Virginia.“It was a surprise to me because I was in the mountains and used A/C most of the way. I also used cruise control as much as possible and stayed between 65-70 mph.”So, how does the Vibe do it?Through a combination of factors, including aerodynamics, lightweight components and advanced technology. The Vibe’s smooth, flowing sheet metal, for example, helps reduce wind drag, especially at high speeds, to help save fuel. Also, Vibe’s low curb weight (only 2,700 lbs. with a manual) is about 600 lbs. less than a Toyota RAV4. Combined with its all-aluminum engine and other lightweight components, that means less work for Vibe’s engine to get it moving from a stop. Finally, variable valve timing, an advanced engine feature, alters the timing of the intake valves throughout the engine’s rev range, which helps to optimize the combustion process for better overall performance, efficiency, and fuel economy.1. Based on the EPA’s revised methodology for calculating fuel economy. ----------------------
