I was bidding on an item from what looked like a new ebay seller and then they end the auction and say its not for sale anymore Not only that my bids and others were removed. so now it shows there were 0 bids.

If the seller doesn't like the trend he can cancel it early. I think it has to be 24hrs before it ends though.

This was like 5 days before its end time it was a new listing!!

They probably sold it locally.

Sorry to hear that...that's strange...I thought that only if there were no bids they could cancel a listing???

I'm pretty sure they can cancel a listing up to 24hrs before it ends. This way if the seller gets cold feet due to lack of bids he can change his mind. That or he had a private offer to purchase.It doesn't happen to me often, but I've seen it done.They can also end an auction early if they are satisfied with the current bid. For instance TWM ends the auction upon the first bidder, which is cool because I don't have to compete with other bidders. Still, I don't know why they don't use the "Buy It Now" option if they do this anyways.

I haven't ebayed in a long time, but doesn't the seller have to pay a bit more for Buy it Now? Maybe thats why they wouldn't use it.

Glad it wasn't me you were mad at 'cause I ended my ebay auction early for one of my motorcycles last night. Had it listed in the local paper also and a fellow shows up yesterday evening with cash money for what I was asking. He didn't even try to dicker.

That happened to me a couple years ago on similar item - memory for my laptop. The seller's excuse was that he sold it so he did't have it anymore. The real reason I am sure is that the bidding was too low. Not fair - bidders can't cancel (unless immediately if they made an error - common error is entering $10,50 instead of $10.50. $10,00 will be entered as $1050.00). eBay should fix that and recognize both the period and the comma as separating dollars and cents.

looks like i can get better deals for memory at NewEgg.I was hopping to get cheaper ram on ebay while increasing my rating. But the ram is going for a lot more than I am willing to pay.Oh well... Just need to save my pennys and try another day.
