Has anyone put one of the new Eclipse double-din head units w/ detachable TomTom nav in their Vibe? Curious what it looks like installed (if it sticks out too much, etc.)(This is the one I'm talking about:)http://www.gpsreview.net/tomtom-eclipse-avn2210p/ More generally, I've also heard that a lot of double-din units end up having ugly gaps to the left and right b/c the Vibe's opening is extra wide. True? True for Eclipse units? Thoughts about improving the look of that?

I personally think it's silly... I can't stand Double D (HU's that is.. )they simply scream STEAL ME... even if part of it is missing... I have done some research on those. I am a big fan of Eclipse, have had many different decks from them. I was looking for a way to get rid of my Garmin portable unit and saw this one. This deck is not up to Eclipse standards. You won't get anymore sound quality out of it than you do from a stock GM radio. Plus you have to pay for the Tom Tom service. Although it is a hassle, get an Eclipse deck, and a portable GPS system. I love Eclipse products but this one is just a bum.

The whole thing is junk. You can get the Eclipse 3100 and do everything you want and still have alot of money left over. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-x...D3100 The 3100 has the ability to do all that you want to with 5volt preouts, mp3 input, aux controls, and you will save yourself tons of hassle. The mounts that hold the TomTom in wear out very quickly and after a couple of months you won't be able to attach it anyway. The sound quality is horrible. It was a marketing ploy that didn't work out very well, that is why everyone is trying to get rid of them at such a low cost. They didn't sell anywhere in the country. I just purchased the Eclipse 5100 on ebay for about $350, it will be installed soon.

Still, the 7100 "eclipses" the 3100 by light years in terms of audio control..

Well said about 7100 vs. 3100. I opted for the 5100, I don't need everything the 7100 has, but the 3100 is great for someone on a limited budget. It (3100) has amazing capabilities for the price.

If the only things you want is to connect an amp for a subwoofer, and an aux input, then you can do like me: buy a high to low level converter and connect it to your back speaker, this way you can connect the output of the converter directly to your amp, and its working really great.For the auxilary input, I know there is a thread in here that explain how to hardwire it with the stock hu.oh and the price of the converter was only 15$
