wow that is pretty cool..it woulda never crossed my mind either, we get some hybrids at work and they're dead silent, only thing you can hear if you got good enough ears is the tires making contact with the road..thats it.

i would say... a pedestrian has the right of way AT ALL TIMES... it's the driver of the hybrid that is breaking the law that doesn't yield to the pedestrian. If it were me I would be leaving knuckle marks in the hood of the car and calling my lawyer for a big payday.

it should be the drivers responsibility for pedestrian regardless if they drive a hybrid or an 18 wheeler

I think its silly when people assume the driver knows they are there and are going to stop.its a two way road, driver and pedestrain working together to avoid accidents

still spacey moment or not..it's the drivers responsibility...even if you share a road with say a guy on a bicycle..it's mainly you're responsibility not to hit him..even if he is all over the road..like i've seen lol

It shouldn't be a drivers responsibility to avoid all the dumb pedestrians that like to burst out and walk into the middle of the road while they clearly have a DO NOT WALK symbol at the light. It isn't just a driver responsiblity, it should be both the pedestrian and the driver. With that being said, I dont know of a good solution for this circumstance..

A do tend to agree with you, if your on a four lane road and a pedestrian steps off the curb you as the driver of the car is required by law to yield to him or her regardless of your speed. But, it's the law and is there to help protect the person who doesn't have the benifits of a 1.5-2ton car or truck protecting them. I have gotten in to arguments with drivers over this and I have left boot marks on their front grill from me kicking the front of their car. I also have been on the other side where I have had a lawsuit brought against me for kid that crossed in an "unmarked crosswalk" as they put it.. more like ran out in between two parked cars and he actually ran IN TO the side of my car and they sued me. HAHA. This is an argument that can get ugly very fast but the law is the law and if you don't yield to a person in a crosswalk regardless if you have the light or not or on the sidewalk if your trying to pull in to your driveway YOU will be fined and possibly arrested.

I thought the blind had heightened sense of hearing?Guess its time for them to um... stay off the road. The blind that is.
