well Ontario has a new law for the roads, it's quite simple and i think it'll be a great tool to cut down on the deaths of the 400 series highways, or any road actually, here's a story from our local news site, let me know what you guys think of the ideahttp://www.citynews.ca/news/news_15297.aspxhtt ... 15302.aspx

The news report said that over 45 have gotten their liscence suspended and 1 had his card impounded for a week. Apparently he started to cry since it was his moms car. God I want to see the dash cam on that one.

Drive with someone in the trunk.Man, when I was a kid my bro did this to me all the time....They should just fine you. I do think there is a difference to speeding, and driving reckless. If you are driving reckless, sure impound the car aye.

well its better then the "we'll seize and crush your car" some guy in the canadian government was pushing for. I think its a good thing I don't live in Ontario anymore lol... only 60 over? I'd drive the deserted 401 to Montreal at 5am in the morning easily doing 60 over here and there to break the boredom.

not just more race tracks, but getting the law enforcement to really bring awareness and push it! up here, even though we dont' take party in illegal street racing, it's not uncommon to get harrassed by cops just because you may have an SCCA sticker to ak raceway park sticker on your car. they should be applauding those of us who do take it to the track and keep it off the streets. occassionally some idiot will pull up next to me to try and race. why should i? i don't have anything to prove to them. i know my car runs 12's and realistically the car trying to race doesn't. now, if they want to get to the track, no problem. i'll gladly run them! but i want a timeslip to show how badly i smoked them!we all can drive like idiots at times, however, when it boils down to it, it's just not safe!

So that's 31 mph over the limit - would be 96 mph on a 65 mph freeway. Or 51 mph in a 20 mph school zone.

10 mph = 16 km/h20 mph = 32 km/h30 mph = 48 km/h40 mph = 60 km/hThese are rounded off since the actual value is that 16 km/h is 9.94mph.

On the radio this morning, There was a news item that they nabbed some driver just south of London doing 190 in an 80.For you non-metric folks, that's 118mph in a 50mph zone. Now this is on a basic two-lane blacktop highway that runs south from London down to the smaller towns along Lake Erie.I haven't heard yet anything about the repercussions yet. But no doubt, if this is true, the car has been impounded, and the driver is probably going to be paying some hefty insurance rates now.Generally on the 401 in Ontario (100 km/hr limit), traffic moves along anywhere from 110 km/hr to about 125, until you the three and four lanes in Toronto, then it's anywhere from 120 to about 140.Even the oldsters in their luxo-barges and Volvos are zipping along at 120 average. The other side of Toronto, all the way to the Quebec border and past, I get passed by people doing at least 140, and the occasional guy just flying, probably doing 160. Most of the highway drivers I don't worry about, it's the morons (usually ricers, in cars AND on bikes) in the city doing burnouts and street-racing, and generally being idiots.

BTW, why would you drive with someone in the trunk? And why would this be one of the highlights of the new law?Am I that out of touch with current fads? I must be getting old.

How is it ever good to give the police one more law to abuse. What are you going to do when you get a law for 5 kph if you have a car the police really like and want to drive around until your lawyer gets it back.Illegal search and seizure is gone when you just keep redefining what is best for the population
