Anyone have any thoughts on which strut/shock is the best? Looking to replace mine using stock springs

If you're keeping the stock ride height, I'd probably go with the KYB's

Has anyone here tried the Tokico HP struts? They're the same price as KYB GR-2, $270.00/set shipped.

The GR-2's are good for a cheap shock/strut. If you're doing it more for appearance, and a little performance (lower springs/struts) they would be good, if you're planning on auto-x, I would probably go with a more adjustable.

I had the GR2 on my Saturn years back. Good for the money, I liked them. But I think the Tokico would give you a little more edge performance wise, but for the price, GR2.

I have GR2s on my 98 protege ES and they are basically a stock replacement. I have Tokicos on my 02 Protege Wagon, and they are much stiffer than stock. Paired with lowering springs, I have a great ride. not too harsh.

My left front strut or strut bearing is starting to clunk. I'll see if it will hold out until spring and replace the stock KYBs with Tokicos. Since they're the same price, they're worth a try.
