The alternator is touching the header just a bit. Will that be a problem in your opinion. Heatsoak as they call it. Will it kill the alternator?

Possibility, and the vibrations against each other probably won't be good either.

That heat can really fry the alternator, I'd be careful with that...

Maybe put some heatwrap around the header pipes. That will keep the heat down and provide some cushion for the pushin. Depending on how your alternator is attached, you may be able to rock it forward or backward a bit.

Definitely NOT good. I vote for another mod. You'll destroy the headers and the alternator. Big Buck$.

Where's the bandwagon so I can jump on it???There it is! *Jump* Wheee!Yep, no bueno, that's what I'm gonna say. I like the idea of thermal wrap, but if there is anyway for you to relocate this alternator, that's your best bet. If you don't need the higher amp alt, try looking into a smaller alternator.

Is it possible to use a slightly shorter belt for the alternator? This would pull it away from the header a bit.

Gold reflective tape for the alt... anything you can do to keep the heat at bay....

I'm from the ol'school, but when we ran into problems with clearance,we would notch the header.(I know it will reduce flow from that cylinder a little, yeah, yeah, yeah.)then use a header wrap as someone suggested. That's if you can't move that alternator.I wouldn't leave it like that though.

Any estimate how much time I have? I need my car daily, and at this point, not sure what I should do.- File the alternator housing to create a few mm gap (and maybe a wrap? At this point, there is not gap to wrap.)- Buy a new different brand header (this is what happens when I went cheap to save a few dollars).- Put the stock back on. Should never have mod the car.- Leave it alone, and push my luck. Maybe I'll sell the car in 3 years.

Filing wont do anything there is still a lot of heat coming off that thing. If you got the cheapo brand your problem starts there. You get what you pay for. I would return it and save the cash for a better brand.Do you have an exhaust as well? A header usually won't do much on it's own without a full catback system to match. Not to mention a highflow cat. So if you have neither of those, I would return it and get a good exhaust to start like a Apexi World Sport II.

Yes. I got a cat-back WS2.

I'd put on the stock manifold. I'd then return it and demand a refund, as it does not work as advertised. Then I'd put money towards a tested and proven application. Some people learn the hard way on cheap stuff.

They probably won't allow you to return it since it's been "used" unless you have not started the car since you put the header on....but I would agree with a return, and get a proven one that fits correctly.

I don't care if he used it and ran it through a bog. It's a defective and damaging product.........should get a return regardless.

Agreed, Hopefully whoever he got it from arn't a bunch of #$%heads and will except it for an exchange, or return... I've just been burned in the past on crap like this and it SUCKS.

If your stuck with it, take the cash you saved and go to a welder/fabricator and have him cut the pipe and reweld a new section to it with more of a bend to make the clearance.Hence companies like DC Sports are well known, quality products.

You could always put a big C-clamp on it and put a "dimple" in it... Then header wrap about 4" of it... Other then sending it back or major mods, your screwed...
