2003 vibe with automatic. 17 inch factory wheels with low looking tires ,about 32 psi . odometer reads approx.85,000 miles. 100 % city driving with the a/c on = 16 mpg . even with an aggressive driver shouldn,t the mpg be much higher. in a previous post someone mentioned disconnecting the battery for a few hours for the computer to relearn .

wait... that seems very very wrong. even all city miles, are you just leaving your car idling and never turn it off??? even i get better fuel economy in both our subies, and they're awd with turbos! and at that, to get 16 mpg, i have to really be romping on the gas!that just seems very very wrong.

Maybe your car needs a tune up, that mileage sounds like crap... I get like 28 driving aggressive. It could be it needs the sparkplugs replaced, MAF sensor cleaned, airfilter is dirty. A nice tune up would help a ton specially with 85k on it.

Even my 05 XR AWD gets better than that. 54,000 miles I average about 22-25 city and clos to 30 highway.

It does seem on the low side, but it also depends on what type of "city" driving you do. Our Vibes have been over 30 mpg for non-trip use, but that's mainly suburban (a few miles on neighborhood streets and then get on a freeway with some congestion along the way). OTOH, I could see 16 mpg being pretty decent for someone driving in Manhattan during rush hour (all stop&go, much block circling looking for parking, etc.).Consumer Reports got 19 mpg on their city driving test of the 2006 Vibe. So you're not too far off from their result (and they praised the Vibe for good fuel economy).Have you done any long trips? The mpg would be easier to compare if you had some results for a fairly constant speed on a highway trip.
