Does anyone Know if FRAM makes a replacement Oil Filter for the Vibe GT Engine? If yes can the part number be posted here please! Also are you guy that are doing your own oil changes replacing the copper washer? Dealer said it was not necessary?...Which does not make sense! I forgot to mention, I think the Manual says thos particular engine (2FGE) needs 4.4 litres of oil...Is this also correct, or has there been an update to this?

yes, the dealer told me it was not necessary and from my understanding he told me he did not change it....There is no oil leak at present time, but I know better! and just wanted to check out before I go screaming!

I did my first oil change at 1500 Km....little less then 1000 miles.......its now at 1789 KM, and with spring on the way, I can do this stuff myself at the rate I want, and I dont need to go to any dealer.

I think the base and GT engines use different factory filters but the aftermarket just use one filter for both engines. Look at the owners manual and you will see 2 different filter numbers but I know AC (what I use) only lists 1 part number for both engines. I think the engines (and filters) are similar enough that it's not a problem. I never used the correct filter for my Sunbird (PF47) because it was smaller than the PF52 I used on other similar engines.

Good Stuff...thanks again also 4.4 litres sound correct, yes, as stated in manual for the quantity of oil?? Basically 1 Mobil1 Gallon should be enough or is more needed?

A litre is slightly larger than a quart so you use less litres of oil compared to quarts. 4qts = 1 US gallon but only takes approx 3.8 litres to equal 1 US gallon.Base = 3.9 qts (3.7L)GT = 4.8 qts (4.4L)Both numbers include changing the filter.

FRAM is the last filter I would ever use on a engine.

I have mty reservations on that, In any case, I ended up going to Toyota and bought a few Original Denso/Toyota filters for the XRS....

I went to a Toyota dealer and bought 5 Matrix XRS filters. They were somewhere around $4 each and they all came with new crush washers. They were the same size filter that was on the car from the factory.

I think the filer off the XRS will fit and is bigger than the stock filter.

Considering that Fram invented the oil filter, I don't know if I would call them junk. I have used Fram in every car I have ever owned (and my parents cars). Every car has the engine running fine, even if something else has gone wrong (Mom's 1996 Chysler Concord's tranny went out at 189k miles, engine still good, 1990 S-10 145k still runs great. 1990 Plymouth Laser 115k, donated to charity when I got Vibe because I could't trade it in for no money with my consence telling me that this car had probably 100k more miles in it for someone else.) I could go on and on about my evidence that Fram is a good filter, but why. You will do what you want, and so will I
