One of the Airbus A380's is coming to Hartford BDL Airport on Oct. 2nd and 3rd for a tour of the US on its world tour. I plan on being there to see this monster either land or takeoff. I gotta call up the airport and see if they know when it comes in so I can see it. I wonder if they will let the public get close to it or not. Either way I wanna see I wanna see! So I'll be taking a day off from work to do this, lol. I'm a dork but I gotta do it.

I remember when the 747 went on its premiere tour. My dad took me to the Pittsburgh airport to see it. They let the public tour it. I got a set of 747 captain's wings. I was Captain Dork.

LOL,well this is an open shell that they are using to test out the new Pratt & Whitney engines, and since PW is out of Hartford they are coming here. So we cannot go onboard, but they are parking it close to the fences so we can look, I plan on taking some good pictures.

Old news, DFW airport was the only place in the US it could land until airports made updates to their runways. I used to live next to DFW and have seen it. Thing is MASSIVE!!

avg. runway width is 45m, this things engines span 80m (distance between farthest engines outboard) Updates to runways, bigger taxi trucks to push and pull the weight at terminal, and additional terminal exits for the upper deck were required.Heck a 747-400 can only sit still on a runway at full power prior to takeoff for about 20 seconds before the thrust starts to rip the runway apart literally! Each engine on a 747-400 produces 58,000lbs. of thrust, imagine what these things got.

I've seen a C5 before, was able to walk through the thing at the Cleveland Air Show one year. I've seen the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, WWII bombers. I got the opportunity a month or two ago on the jet ski with my cousin to see two A-10's cruise by, they did a wing dip and big sharp S-turn right over us not even 1000 feet overhead, it was sick!!One last thing is I get the pleasure of living about 4 miles from Sikorsky in Stratford, CT. I always see new ones being test flown and what not, fun stuff.
