At the expense of a stolen stereo?!? Yep, so the insurance says they're gonna foot me $1250 to get my $1500+ HU back. Wife and I were talking and it looks like I might just have to say good-bye to the HU, get a cheaper unit, and finally get the bodywork and paint done! We'll see, waiting for the insurance still.

well, unfortunate about your stereo, however, that's good to hear you'll be back to monotone if all works well.

^agreed, it will be nice to see that bumper finally painted! Still sucks that what had to happen in order to get it painted.

i say go that route, you don't need that fancy smanshy HU anyway!i would get it painted, then save up a little dough and find another HU on craigslist.

hey good plan damronjr. About 8 years ago I bought a standard pioneer cd HU for my car...well guess what, it still works and I installed it in my sisters car. Now its so old who would want to steal it hahha although it still looks new get a standard hu or stock and then paint the beast up!

You guys are hilarious! The insurance people are finally supposed to come look at the car tomorrow. My wife had to go there in person to get anything done. Our adjuster decided to disappear for a week without even letting us know, and we were waiting for nothing.

Man, you would think this was a comedy forum! I think we are just going to go all silver as it is cheaper than repainting the entire car. I wanted to go all matte black, rat-rod style, but the wife said no!

I've seen a picture of a scion xb all matte black and real flames (true flames, can't think of the right term now) along the bottem half. It's in one of my tuner mags. Looked really cool!!I know how you feel, mang! I've been trying to paint mine for the last 4 years!Go for the paint job and be done with it!!

i never saw the xb lancer mentioned, but i have a sport compact car mag with a matte black wrx that was painted with.... regular spray cans. it looks suprisingly good tho. so there's a cheap alternative for ya
