First off hello to everyone, this is my first post here.I've got a 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT (6 spd, 1.8L 4cyl 2ZZ-GE) and in the process of replacing the clutch with a "F1 RACING STAGE 2 CLUTCH KIT". I did my share of searching on the site but could cont find a definitive answer.Will my stock flywheel be computable with this after market clutch?# F1 Racing Stage 2 Heavy-Duty Pressure Plate# F1 Racing Stage 2 Carbon Kevlar Disc (210mm, 21 spline)Thanks,KhanFire

Welcome to the site! I would replace the flywheel while you're in there but others here with GTs will most likely provide you with a more definitive answer.

If you are going to a performance clutch then personally I would if there is one available. Going with a flywheel that is lighter or aluminum would allow for the engine to spool up quicker and feel like you increased the horse power.

The stock flyweel will work fine. There are pros and cons to a lightened aftermarket flywheel. With the stronger clutch I would tend to lean towards leaving the heavier flywheel in place to get better launches from a stop. Standing starts is where you will most notice the heavy duty clutch.

just had mine done not too long ago. Change that flywheel for sure. too expensive to have to go back in there. Plus why spend all the money and have a scored or warped flywheel in there.

I just got my Stage 3 clutch done about 6 months ago...I had about 85,000 with the original clutch on my '03 Vibe GT. The clutch that is in the GT is the same as the base model and handles 60-70 more horsepower, but it was not meant to handle that load. The mechanic had the fly-wheel remachined. Definitely make sure your OEM flywheel is up to par, or get it repaired if necessary, but I wouldn't get a lighter fly wheel. I looked into getting a new fly wheel....but lighter is definitely not the way to go...the heavier the flywheel, the better your acceleration off the line. A lighter fly wheel is better for road racing like autocross or something, but can be a lot trickier to drive with. I actually looked into getting one installed on my turbo mustang SVO a few years back and unless you want to lose your off the line power...I don't think it is worth it.
