okay i did a search for bearing. i have a ringing noise from what seems like my left front tire.its a high pitched noise. that usually occurs on high speed left tuns.i would take it in but the noise is sporadic at best and usually only happens on the freeway. most of the other topics on this dont mention high pitched ringing noises. i jacked the car up and spun the wheels it almost sounds like the brakes (which are getting a little low but not to bad i dont think.) the left front makes a lounding squeel/ring metallic noise than the right front but theres no lateral play. can brakes make a noise when you not pressing them. it sounds normal when i press them.so jjust looking for some other inputs.mabey this weekend i'll take the calipers off.but it doesnt sound like tranny its real close to the wheel.

The brakes on my Alero would sing on the corners when the pads were low, even if I wasn't braking. I would say take apart the caliper if it's not too much trouble.

disc brakes still drag a token amount, even if not braking at the time, but it is pretty easy to take the pads off to see if that changes the noise. I had a car that had that ringing sound, but other things took it away before I figured out what it was. if it happens on turns, could it be a CV joint? I never had one of those go bad (at least that I knew about) so I don't know what sounds they make.
