Subject: I AM CANADIANI am a minority in Vancouver, Banff , and every casino in this county.I was born in 1958, yet I am responsible for some Native's great great grandfather who screwed himself out of his land in the 1800's.I pay import tax on cars made in Ontario.I am allowed to skydive and smoke, but not allowed to drive without a seat belt. All the money I make up until mid July must go to paying taxes.I live and work among people who believe Americans are ignorant. These same people cannot name this country's new Territory.Although I am sometimes forced to live on Kraft Dinner, and don't have a pot to (removed) in, I sleep well, knowing that I've helped purchase a nice six figure home in Vancouver for some unskilled Chinese refugee.Although they are unpatriotic and constantly try to separate, Quebec still provides my nation's Prime Ministers.95percent of my nation's international conflicts are over fish.I'm supposed to call black people African Canadians. Although I'm sure none of them have ever been to Africa, or east of Halifax for that matter.I believe that paying a 200 percent tax on alcohol is fair.Even if I have no idea what happened to that old rifle my grandfather gave me when I was 14, I will be considered a criminal if I don't register it.I DO know Jeff from Toronto.I often badmouth the United States , and then vacation there three times a year.I'm led to believe that some lazy (removed) unionized broom pusher who makes 30 dollars an hour is underpaid and therefore must go on strike, but paying 10 dollars an hour to someone who works 12 hour shifts at 40 below on an oil rig is fair.I believe that paying 30 million for 3 stripes (The Voice of Fire) by the National Art Gallery was a good purchase, even though 99 percent of this country didn't want it. Or will ever see it.When I look at my pay stub and realize that I take home a third of what I actually make. I say "Oh well, at least we have better health care than the Americans".I must bail out farmers when their crops are too wet or too dry, because I control the rain.My National Anthem has versions in both official languages. And I don't know either of them.Canada is the highest taxed nation in North America, the biggest military buffer for the United States, and the number one destination for fleeing boat people.I am not an angry white male. I am an angry broke taxpayer. My name is Paul, and I AM CANADIAN!

I thought it was only a million or two? Still way too much money for it. I've seen it about 4 times now and I still don't get it.

My name is Kristen, and I AM CANADIAN! Unlike Paul however I understand the Aboriginal peoples struggle due to the colonization and assimilation forced on them by the Europeans who apparently "found" this country...it was never lost!In Canada, human rights and employment equity laws stress that no individuals will be descriminated against on the basis of ethnicity or race, (removed), disability or religion.Although not without its problems (Paul), Canadian multiculturalism policy aims to promote ethnic and cultural diversity and social unity. Alas, racism and descrimination is alive and well (Paul) however despite this the Asian individual of whom Paul is refering to was able to work hard enough and long enough to buy himself and his family a beautiful home in a nice safe neighborhoud, one in which Paul and his family would want to purchase. I am proud to be a Canadian however ashamed to be represented as such by Paul.

I'm not sure what tax laws does canada have but here in states emigrtants from certain countries (I don't know the exact list) do not pay taxes when they open a business. I EDITED THIS POST BECAUSE OF RACIST COMMENTS, PLEASE PAWEL KEEP YOUR SENSITIVE OPINIONS TO YOURSELF - Salsa!

Amen! We love our neighbors to the north. I think you're all crazy for living where it's so cold but I gotta admit, it's a beautiful country.

As Ozzy Osbourne would say, "I would rather be here than in Afganistan right now." Last I heard your tax freedom day is in July. That should cheer you up.I remember the price of that "art" you refer to as only $1 million. Yes our tax dollars at work.

From Ottawakiosk.com: * Voice of Fire, the controversial 18-foot painting by Barnett Newman which dominates the gallery dedicated to American Expressionism, was first exhibited at Expo '67 in Montreal.

I've seen it several times - every class trip to the national gallery we had to sit on the floor and stare at it.

I think so.. probably the art teachers we were with had no clue either. They just read the description and pretend they know what its about.

I've seen «Voice of fire» 2 times at the "Musée des Beaux Arts" in 1994 and 1998 and I still doesn't understand what is the signification of this «Art»... So, you are not alone... And thanks to Frosty for the pic.

I love art. I paint in my spare time, but the Voice of Fire is lost on me. What a waste of money.

You should not take the blame for this thread. Oh do you mean for going off topic? I don't think anyone minds... do they? I'm off just as much as you are. LOL
