I think my car is allergic to engine mods

For some reason this has been the most difficult car to play with. I installed the intake, engine light constantly came on for whatever reason, even after all seals and hoses were fixed.I install a Helix and I get a really loud whine at idle and an engine light, then last night the occasional oil lamp which has since stopped. I tighten the clamps on the hoses, and today in traffic my car pours out white smoke for a good half a minute or so. I reset the battery and it stops but the whine is still there.I swear my car does not like its engine to be touched. I never had these issues on my Saturn or my Civic, what a PIA

holy crap dude. I had a helix and still have a cai and never had a engine light. with the intake did you make sure the pvc thingy hose connector was still like horizontal? I have a pic at home, but I zip tied that part so it stayed horizontal, i heard you should do that to have a better chance of not getting a cel. Did you get the gaskets with the helix? is the gasket on the correct side?

It only came with one gasket and I put that between the Helix and the TB. I am wondering if there should be a second one (which I did not get) to go between the helix and the intake manifold. Cause alls that is there is the little rubber ring from the stock TB. Wonder if I can just pickup a gasket that looks similar in shape or make one to put there?Other than that and tightening up these two hoses with new clamps, I'm at a loss.I already took the intake off, and sold it. I just cannot believe the aggravation this thing causes me. I did a ton of mods to my other cars with no issues.

WTH! Sounds like you have some other issues if you have white smoke pouring out. Was the smoke from the engine or the exhaust? Maybe you should stick to appearance mods only. Neither mod should cause your oil lamp light to go on.The one gasket should be fine. Have you tried re-checking to see if your TB bolts are tight?

Bolts are tight, smoke was from the exhaust and hasnt returned. I think it was a fluke thing cause it's never happened before. I'm gonna put these clamps on during lunch, if that doesn't solve it then tonight when I get home I'm taking it off, selling it, and calling it a day with engine stuff for this car.

I think it is running rich I also think it is directly related to the Helix and nothing else. I fully inspect the car each time I change the oil. I even checked underneath this morning and saw nothing.Like I said, if the clamps fail, I'll go back to stock and just leave it alone, then focus on my headlights.

you should try taking it off and seeing how the car runs.... this is just odd

With all the mods I have done to my car, I have never really had a bad problem with them. Including: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=29896

K I can't work while thinking about this lol, lunch is only a short while away before I get these clamps.I went down to the garage and turn the thing on, No more engine light since I reset which is nice. I went under the hood and took the tongspring style clamp around the bigger hose on the front part of the TB facing towards the bumper. I pushed it apart pretty hard my fingers hurt now. I could hear the whine starting to go away almost stopping, then release, and its back. So it's def. a leak issue. Probably because of the extra vaccuum being created now the stock clamp cannot keep up. I have never been a fan of thos spring clamps anyways. Ill get some nice tight screw ones and batten down the hatch and see what she does on the ride home later.
