Has anyone tried Royal Purple Transmission fluid? This product really makes a noticeable difference in manual transmissions and since auto transmissions have gears it should/could help reduce friction losses. The company claims it will outperform any OEM fluid but it could be just another example of wasted money in search of increased performance.

royal purple is great...so many of my friends use it and love it..they also use their synthetic motor oil aswell and never had a problem

You may want to verify it meets GM and/or Toyota specs. Amsoil tranny oil doesn't meet the more stringent specs. Any oil company that doesn't provide all their specs and data sheets is a little suspect...

I use RP full synthetic 5W30 oil in my LGT. however, they do not make a better ATF for mine than what Subaru makes. if they did, i'd use it.

I tried it in the past and it starts out great but the shifting got worse before 10k mi. I'd look elsewhere for this app. Torco and the dealer fluid worked better. I've heard good things about Amsoil MTG. The tranny needs the right amount of friction for the synchros to work properly. Less isn't necessarily better. Whoops. I'm talking manual tranny. For an auto, I'd use the factory fluid (cheaper at Toyota) and do a drain and fill every 10k mi. It will keep it in spec as you only get about 1/2 the fluid out in a drain and fill. If you change to a different fluid, do a complete flush. I think that expensive fluids are a waste here as it's better to change and get contaminents out of the system more often. The correct friction coefficient is still important for autos. I wouldn't use anything that wasn't certified. 'recommended for' isn't the same.

from my understanding, AMSOIL makes the BEST ATF fluid out there. however, since it's only a hair better than the SOA ATF, i'll save my money. I have to do a tranny flush every 20K miles just about.

I've done a tranny flush with AMSOIL Universal and it meets the Toyota T-IV specs. Haven't had any issues with it.

I see one member had problems with RP transmission fluid. Has anyone else had problems. My 5 speed has 30,000mi on it and I want to change the fluid. My local stores have MB1, Valvoline, and RP available, which should I use?
