mismatched touch up paint

I recently bought some touch up paint that was supposed to match satellite silver. Unfortunately, when I applied the paint it was very obvious that it was not the same color. Any advice on ways to make the colors blend a little? I have heard that wet sanding and clear coat should help. I only have until Monday afternoon to get it done so any and all help will be appreciated

Wet sanding and clearcoat will make the spot smoother but won't make the different colors blend. Smooth it down and apply the correct color touch-up paint.

any idea where I might be able to find the correct color? I have already checked many auto part stores with no success.

I bought it from the dealer, same color as yours. You must shake it real well to get the metalflake to mix.Also if you find yourself needing to do some spot sanding...try using a hole punch on some 600 grit, then use the holes with a pencil erasure to lightly sand the small spot/chip.

get the REAL stuff from the dealership, not that dupli-crap stuff at the auto parts stores. and remember, the older the car, the more noticeable the color variation will be between the touch up and the rest of the car because of fading.

Even if it is the dealership paint, it still won't match up 100%. With out baking in the finish like the factory, there is nothing you can really do. It's still better than a big chip though.

I have tried wet sanding and it actually made a difference in matching. Its not perfect but it is better and I am clear coating it tomorrow. So I will see what the end result is soon.
