its inside the air box near the bottom closest to the back of the car, it is kind of flat and wide, i will try to get a picture of it...

You've gat a GT and it opens to let more air into the motor at higher RPM s. Closed allows for better throttle response and a bit more torque down low and open for more HP up high. I don't think it opens until you're closer to 4k to keep things quiter for normal driving.

thanks for the answer man, is that flapper recirculating exhaust gas or is it sucking from the open air?

sadly, i am a semi-pro photographer who has had sports pictures published in the dallas morning news and i have a crapload of awards for it but i dont own a digital camera...ill try to borrow one from someone but i just went to college and i know no one so ill post a pic when i can get one.or...we could find another GT person here who still has the stock airbox to shoot a picture of it open and then closed...oh and i think you are right goodvibe because the engine gets a hell of a lot louder at 4k and then at 6500 so first its flapper than its lift...friggin bizarre engine

even without my stock airbox i hear about 2x the engine noise going from 3200 to 3600rpms while driving on highway, thats to maintain speed not full throttle acceleration.
