That #1 ugliest PACER is kind of growing on me! I did own a 1978 Chevette 4 dr hatchback AT (no a/c) - it cost new about $2,800 as I remember. It was not that bad. My teenage son totaled it in the fall of 1985 and he survived with nothing but bruises. Took the $1,900 insurance money (good settlement) and got a low mileage used 1984 with AC for about $3,900 - that one WAS a dog. A year later got 2,700 in trade on a new 1986 VW Golf. Best decision on buying that Golf was getting the extended warranty - we sure used it. Got $700 in trade when leasing a new 1994 Camry. For an old guy I have a long memory. Now where did I put my car keys?

Eh,A lot of those cars were right in line with the styles of the time they were built. The only RECENT car in there was the Aztek. That Vega, while not a well built car, was actually fairly sharp. Had similar lines to the 70s Camaros.

I agree with most of the picks they made, but then when they show what appears to be one of the V-8 Vega, I have to waffle a little bit.As a four cylinder, yeah totally sucky, but the one they showed didn't look half bad, maybe not pretty, but at least acceptable, it could even be a little sister to an early 70's Camaro. And if I remember correctly, the V-8 wagon version of the Vega was officially classed as a commercial vehicle (truck), and didn't have to comply with the smog and pollution control requirements, at least up here anyway. So the guys were getting these things, and building up the engine and drivetrain, and going bracket racing. The definitely should have included the 80's Citation........They were ugly with a capital "F".

No offense to anyone younger, but this was probably written by someone young and was not even alive during the 70s era. I'm not a fan of AMG, but they were very popular. The same with Ford Pinto. Did anyone recall how "hot" the car was? That was Kate Jackson's car in Charlie's Angles. And the Chevy Vega was as popular as the Acura Integra. Car guys were fixing it up, and drop in V8 motor swaps. And there were V8 swap Pintos too. Chevy Chevette was also a sales success, until GM sat on it too long for the imports to pass it. It gets 31 MPG as I recall. Try that in the 1970s.Again, they are "ugly" now. The same way I think a Ford Model T is ugly. But dare I call such treasures like the Model T ugly?

Far be it from me to question the intelligence of GM Marketing, but "Chevette" would seem to be a better name than "Cobalt" for a small Chevrolet.
