I had a friend/mentor that had an 87' Jimmy that went through a few rounds of upgrades, ending with a full tube chassis and blown 400ci SB... It started life as a normal 2.8l Jimmy, the first round of mods netted him a lightly built SB 350 in it with 16 by 10's all the way around (like the older Vettes) and all the body lines and door handles were leaded, so it was smoooooooth... and topped off with Vette purple... The second round found him in his garage, welding up the full tube frame(with all welds smoothed out), which he did all himself... complete floor pan removal, body mounting, floor pan re-creation. 4 link install, fatmans mustang front end, coilovers, rear tubs for the "fatties" and a complete factory interior (perfect of course) and had a Geo Metro rear seat that fit perfect between the tubs... It ended up Hugger orange(which he did himself in the garage) and had the white rally stripes on it just like the old school orange RS camaros...... I sure wish i had been smart enough at the time to take pictures... It was a complete SHOW STOPPER.... I mean seriously, we used to go to this place every Thursday to a local car show, and he would pull in and rev it a time or two and people would STOP and then gravitate toward it... Never was there a car at the show that EVER did that... it was truly amazing...
