I've noticed during the preseason games, that the quarterbacks have a green dot on the back of their helmets. Does anybody know what it is?

It identifies the player with the headset in his helmet. Only one player is allowed to have a headset, usually the QB on offense. I believe it's new this year.

It's to signify that the player has an audio headset. Since you are only allowed one on the field per team, typically its the QB. So if the ref or official hears audio coming from a helmet, it helps them to identify. I was hoping to beat you too it NY!!

Okay...if all quarterbacks have the headset...why do they need a green dot?

I thought it was to help the defence identify who to slam to the ground unmercifully when they are running up behind them.

thats how i play madden, I turn off the line of scrimmage and just stand next to the qb..so that green dot will make it a tad easier now
