Hi,I'm searched everywhere but can't seem to find an answer to this question. I'm importing a '03 Vibe to Canada and was wondering if the tempature display in the cluster can be switched to Metric? Is this something I can do at home via the key and or reset button or is this something the dealer has to do? Also, if you switch the tempature to metric, would the odometer switch to kilometres as well?I've imported 2 other cars in the past but this will be the first Vibe. Thanks

If it can be done, we don't know how to do it. It has been asked before, but nobody knew. There is a sequence to change the seatbelt warning behavior, that sets an option in the cluster, there is probably a way to do other things also, but it's like a cheat code in a video game, and nobody has found it yet.THere are places that can program the instrument cluster, I looked at one when I was replacing my 03 red cluster with a 04 red and white one, and I needed to make the new odometer match the old one. There is a company called SPECMO http://www.specmo.com/Conversions/Conversions.asp they say they can do it. I have no idea what it would cost, and what turn around time they offer. WHen I called them about setting an odometer, they sounded pretty responsive, but I have never actually had an business with them, so I can't vouch for themIf you do find some sort of special combination of switch pressing and key turning that can toggle between english and metric units, you better post it up here! The odometer will only count up to 299,999 and wil not roll over, it will just stop at 299,999. kms or miles doesn't matter, 299,999 of either is the max it will count. Since 299,999 miles is about 480,000 kms, an english clustered vibe will go a lot further than a metric clustered vibe So are you importing the car for your own use, or are you a reseller of some sort?

Welcome fellow Ottawan!I don't think you can change it yourself but it may be possible for the dealer to do. Probably a setting in the BCM(body control module). Try calling Donnelly's and all local Pontiac dealers until you get a straight, knowledgeable answer.

I visited a local dealer today and he mentioned that all GM vehicles had the option to switch but the Vibe can't as it's got Toyota electronics. I guess that's why the lot was filled with G5's and G6's and no Vibes. He did mention that he was sure it could be reprogramed in their shop. I was just hoping that there was a tool that someone could buy to do it themselves as I'm sure it's a quick fix.As for the import question. Nope, I'm not a dealer but I may re-sell if someone offers me the right amount of cash. The Vibe/Matrix duo are a good car to import as ithey already have DLR's, child safety hooks and the French airbag sticker is easy to obtain. Also, for those wondering, any car not made in NAFTA (Canada, Mexico or the US) suffers a 6% duty when coming across the border into Canada. For example, a Mazda 3 (which is made in Japan). However, the Mazda 6 would not as it's made in Flat Rock, Michigan. This is what makes the Vibe & Matrix attractive.
