Double-Din's

I know that Kenwood makes a double din, and became aware today from another post that JVC also makes one. Are there any others? I'm not looking for one that plays DVD's or has navigation. Also, with double dins do you need to get a mounting kit or does it just bolt in and the trim plate covers it like the stock one on the edges?

Ewwww. Most of them are quite dated. If I'm to go double din I think I'll go with the Kenwood.

Have none of you installed the retaining bolt for your stereos before? That is what the screw hole in the back of stereos is for. Whenever I isntall aftermarket HU's I always put that in. It is apain cause to have to connect toe the bolt to the firewall.

+1 on the bolt, used it on my 94 Saturn with the Xplod deck that folded out for the buttons but used the remote for everything mostly.

Only way to do it was with a 1/4 socket with a 9mm(wanted something different than the standard 10mm on most Hondas) You had to reach from under the console, up by the firewall, and then proceed to unbolt. When I took it off, it took almost 30 minutes cause it was in so far.

GREAT idea though, alas, a PERP will SHRED your dash, given enough time, to get it out... BTST (been there, seen that)

Double D's can have extra features not found too often any more. Such as tape and CD decks or Multi Disc units in Dash....Some now offer screens or Hard-Drives.

ah gotcha..wouldnt use a tape deck..but the multidisc or even the harddrive would be good..does anyone know if a radio out of say a G6 would work in the vibe? their radios are much nicer and are about the same size..but not sure about the connections

I thought the Vibe was just a din and a half? I don't think the stereo opening is double Din is it? If so where do you get a mounting kit?

It's a double din. I'm sure you can order the mount kit online, or you could try best buy/circuit city...
