Unichip installed!

First of all I just want to thank Kevera. I just got my unichip installed yesterday. I feel like I gained that power that I lost with the intake and header. I filled my tank with premium and set the chip to map B, and wow, I love it. The only problem is that my cel is on now, and I can't get rid of it. Hopefully this clears up with time. I will try to post some pis a little later.

Sweet! Enjoy your new found power. Do you know what the cel code is? Did you have one before?

I never had a cell light come on.And I had it in and out a few times. But Mavrik, who I got the chip from, had a cell light when he installed it .But it went away after a few days. So,if it drives good, just wait it out.

It drove with map B on for about 15 miles with no cel. Then when I started it up later, the light was on and hasn't turned off since. I don't know what the cel code is.

Did you get it reprogrammed yet.

Yeah I got it programmed yesterday. However, I was a little pissed. I went to Detroit Tuned, and I will not again. After I asked to double check that he had the intake, exhaust, and header map on it, he told me that he didn't have that map. He only had the intake and exhaust map. So really I just wasted 20 bucks. Next time I should make sure that its the right map before it is uploaded. Live and learn I guess.

That's your cell problem then. You may need a new program. In the way I sent it to you,I had the intake and exhaust. So,there was no change then.I would get that done,to see if that's why the light is on.Or wait and see if the light cycles off.

I have to see if the other place has the right map then. Since there's only two authorized unichip tuners in Michigan, that kind of limits my options.

Maybe contact unichip, they may be able to email the map to Detroit Tuned.See what they say.

The Unichip has to be tuned by either Unichip itsself or an authorized unichip tuner. I wish it was that simple. Actually it is pretty simple, just inconvenient.

yes, you have to send the chip into a tuner or to unichip directly. and no, we never had a CEL come on either my Vibe GT (it actually got rid of my CEL) or on Mav's Vibe. Sounds like the tuner didn't actually TUNE the unichip.

I gonna try to get hold of the other shop that tunes the Unichip. Even if the cel goes away after a while, I still want it mapped to the mods that I have. Actually, I think I might be able to get my 2 1/4" midpipe back on in time for the Michigan meet.

The unichip for our vibes do not come with maps for headers. I thought about getting mine remapped for exhaust and cai, but I decided to stick with the map for cai only. I don't want CEL's popping up. I just switch between A and B accordingly.

Are you sure about that? I thought I saw an option for that map on Unichips website.

well, getting an actual custom tune, they should tailor your maps specific to your mods.

in a custom tune do they dyno it and see where improvements can be made or just go based on average data of what those mods should do

man that old chip sure is getting around.Yes I did get a cel the first start up and was rather annoyed to see it. I think it probably had to do with the car running rich right on start up and I had it set to map B. It cleared itself by the end of the weekend/ a couple drive cycles and I never saw it after that.

the map with the headers is for the 2zz. i have short ram headers and exhaust with the cia and exhaust map. no cels.side note does anybody else wih unichip have a scangauge.wanna see a comparision. and in a dyno they custom tune the car for your mods but im sure its easier to sart with a preloaded map and tweak from there but you could start with a blank slate if you wanted.

Nah,unichip has a map for the base with header.I still think he should contact unichip to see if he can send it to them. It's weird because I had no problems with the chip and neither did Mavrik, but we never had a header.

http://www.unichip.us/search_r...55118we also had unichip reprogram it, no "authorized tuner".

So unichip e-mailed me back saying that if I can't get the right map, I will need it to be custom tuned. So I'm gonna try the other tuner and see if they have the right map. If not, I'll have to see how much custom tuning will cost.

custom tuning is not cheap. however, with all your mods and money you've spent, imo, it's the best way to go. you'll get a lot more bang for your buck. I'd say to expect about $300 for custom dyno tuning for an hour.
