Does every vibe come with a cargo cover?

Does every vibe come with a cargo cover as standard equipment? My friend has one and I heard people on the forum talk about it but I was wondering if this is standard equipment or not.

Yup, the cargo cover is a standard feature on all models.
http://www.pontiac.com/vibe/specs_interior.jspEdit: I think Sub-Vibe-R posted, but then deleted his post... He had a good point though. Are you talking about the cargo cover or mat? The cover is standard while the mat is an option. The cover is the grayish flap that latches into the hooks and provides privacy for what's in the rear cargo area.

Mine is still in that tray in the back - what a badly designed cover. Does anyone actually use theirs?

I always use mine except when I've got to haul something bigger than it will allow.

I have only removed mine a couple of times. I pull it as tight as I can get it. It sits fine in mine. Don't get me wrong, it does sag a little in the middle, but it isn't that bad.I think they should have put one in like the one they have in the Trailblazer. It is retractable and removable once fully retracted. But then again, that presents the problem of what do you do with it when not in use. Do you store it somewhere or just lay it in the car?

Mine stays folded in the compartment behind the seats. No need with tinted windows.

I guess I really do not have too big a problem with the cover - I have never actually used mine except to test it out - I have never had anything in the back I thought was worth covering.

when i picked up my vibe, the salesman pulled the cover out from the storage area behind the back seats and mentioned that he was able to get the "better" cargo cover that was not as flimsy as the standard (i guess) covers, and that because of the reinforcing "ribs" (for lack of a better word in my vocab) in the cover, it didn't fit as well in that storage area. was he just making up the fact that there is more than one cover available for the vibe? i didn't believe what he said after i considered the other things he mentioned, such as the fact that the interior colors (graphite/slate) were only available with specific exterior colors and that frosty w/slate wasn't an available combination (they found one for me later).as for the cover, i use mine often enough, but have to take it off when my dog comes along for a ride. same goes for the cargo box-might as well leave it out!

I either haven't found it yet or it isn't there. Do I need to lift the tray up and look around the spare? it wasn't in the tray anyway. Also, what about the tie-downs that hook into the track system? Again, I haven't found them or don't have them. I was also missing one keyless remote, but they replaced that. On the up side, I did get the snowboard....that I don't need!

On the 2008 models, I notice that it's listed as available (optional?) on the Pontiac site but my dealer couldn't find it in his catalog and no one had any idea of what it looked like. The owner's manual mentions it briefly but without mentioning that it's optional or where it might be.

If you cant get it with your new car, someone here or matrixowners.com or ebay will have it at a fairly good price.

Wow 5 years and the thread was brought back, LOL that must be a record of some sort. Why purchase a floppy flimsy vinyl cover that sags, when for $50 you can build your own hard cover that can hold up to 50lbs.+ on the top shelf! Not to mention it's two piece so you can easily get access from the hatch glass and it stores in a smaller space.

The problem with the hard cover is storing it... or damaging it

Hello, To answer a few of the questions. No one offers a semi-stiff cargo cover as mentioned in one of the replies. Neither Toyota or Pontiac offer anything besides the the soft cover that is availabe as a standard option or purchased after the sale. Now, getting into deals of whether or not they soft covers come standard or not really varies dependin on OEM and year. The only thing I will say is I have heard (sadly) that some dealerships have kept those soft covers as well as cargo mats that came standard on the vehicles and then sold them later on ebay. I have communicated with many people through my experiences who have expressed this to me. Don't forget there is also an excellent write up on how to build your own within genvibe (Hard Cover that is). For those who would like the stability of a hard cover, I am the individual who sells a custom Hard Cover version to the soft cover on ebay. Please take a look. If you feel you would like to build your own version, I am more then willing to explain what that all entails. Thanks!

Pretty sure it was standard in 2006 and then with the 2007 models, it became an option. The 2006's still had it and the cargo mat as standard.

Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »The problem with the hard cover is storing it... or damaging itI used 1/8" ply and covered in the carpet material, darn hard stuff to break for sure. I took the idea from what was on Ebay and modified it to my own specs based on pictures. One of them being I used a plit design instead of one piece. If the need comes for taking it apart for room, you can do two things. Pop it all out and set it aside in the garage taking up minimal space. Or lay the sections on the floor of the hatch if you are at a store or something and easily get the space needed. Makes it easier if you have other people in the car and you can't fold the seats down to store one long piece of board.
