I have noticed that some of you have painted the plastic engine parts. What kind of paint have you been using and is there anything else that I need to paint those parts.

Some have painted, some have stickers. If your talking about the black engine cover. Then use krylon plastic paint. Some have prepped by sanding and some haven't,just using a plastic primer.

I tried Krylon for plastic and had horrible results--however, I did not sand first. I used some metallic paint and had good results after sanding, though. The big thing is...be patient and take your time. Don't do what I did and try to put 5 coats on in 10 min

That weird,I painted with the primer and krylon plastic with sanding and it's still looks good,no peeling or cracking.I took my time though. It's been 2 years since I painted it.

Seems to me the key is ..... and this is true with any type of painting .... and that would be proper preperation!

I will give it a shot maybe the next weekend or so. (stereo install this weekend) The reason I asked is that I have painted the door panels on my 79 Pickup about 10 years ago and had horrible results. Right now it looks like that cheezy blue and grey cammo that some of the kids wear. I am going to Port Huron and I will have a look at some of the products over there.
