Hello everyone, got my vibe, found this forum, and I wanted to say hi. I have been the proud owner of a saturn Vue for the past four years and was really sad to have to part with it; however, 20-23mpg wasn't something I could live with anymore. I fell in love with the vibe when I got one as a rental while my Vue was in the shop, and when I found out that it could get 36mpg that sealed the deal. I had already been looking around for a new car with better mileage, loved the Prius, but can't afford it. My main focus at that time was the Toyota Yaris, but it's hard to find a Toyota dealer near me, so I hadn't taken one for a spin yet. Anyway, enough of that.I love moddding, but don't have the funds to do it seriously, First thing I typically do to a car is put in a CAI, but I think I'll hold off on the Vibe because it looks like a real pain to install. I'll probably start with a K&N. Gotta replace those headlamps too. Silverstars rule. At least until I can afford a HID upgrade.Anyway, hi all. I look forward to my experiences on this forum.One question though..... Is there a user gallery where I can upload my pics? I couldn't log into the gallery and haven't been able to figure it out yet. Some of this website appears confusing, but then I've been on saturnfans.com for 7 years and am so used to it's layout. I have to change my thinking a little.

welcome!This site doesn't have a gallery for us to put up pictures (the admins have to upload them) but you can attach one pic per post. Most of us use some other form of image hosting (I use photobucket)What kind of Vibe did you end up with?

I got an '07 Frosty. Only extras I could afford was the preferred package. Dealer happened to have a monotone so I got that as well. I have plans to paint in the "pontiac" lettering on the rear hatch with a metallic blue, and to do some pinstriping.

Hello and welcome.... I'm rather new here as well... Your gonna love it here... As far as pics, grab a Photobucket account, i've yet to find anything easier... and freeI wanted to mention about the Silverstar bulbs you've mentioned. You may wish to stop by the "exterior" section and have a look at my headlight bulb post... it has much to the contrary about the Silverstar bulbs... It's a good read for those truely interested... Welcome. You may not miss the fuel mileage of the Vue, but you will miss the power. I love my Vibe and love modding it. However, I do miss the V6 power my Grand Am had. But yes, up to 36 mpg is nice. The best I have done is 33.5 while the worst I have done is 26.3 after some very hard driving on new tires with header & 2.5" exhaust. And like Sublimewind said about the Silverstars, I had them and they were bright--for all of six months.

Not missing much power. I had the 2.2L I4 engine in the Vue. It was nice with some mods. but yeah.. do have a little less power. Got ripped by a comanche the other day that my Vue would have shamed. oh well.. some day. Problem is I want more power, but don't want to lose the gas mileage. That's a tough balance. it can be done, but not cheaply.

welcome to the family, i'm sure you'll love it here. and congrats on makin it to the 30+ mpg category. i rarely hit 30 mpgs because of my lead foot and addiction to the GT's "lift"btw, i'm not sure if you know, but your avatar is a matrix

If you're trying to increase horsepower and gas mileage you might want to get a ram air hood...and actually hook it up..i've got the SLP Ram Air hood, and there's also an RKSport Ram Air Hood out there. It mainly will help on the highway but it doesn't hurt that's for sure. just a thought

hehee... The Welcome mat has finally been put out, thanks everyone for sayin' hi. So far the only real dislike that I have about the Vibe is that the front cupholders aren't the same size. Haven't found a cup yet that fits the front one. Long term plans are to go ram air, prolly do a catback exhaust, and if it won't totally kill my mpg, a supercharger. At that point I will definitely have to do something about the weak brakes. Is there a read disk conversion? I usually use Stillen, but they don't seem to have anything other than the Eibach lowering kit. Which I will also do, but not Eibach. I will do some minor trim such as pinstriping, and a little custom paint myself, but I like to keep the exterior looking very much like stock. Not into those fancy tuner light kits and such. I would love to find a spoiler for it, but they are dissapearing and I hate to purchase car parts on ebay.

I wonder if the older Vibes have a larger front cupholder.Most of the fast food /coffee places cups fit in mine.

The rear-front cupholder(20oz bottle of Pepsi) is larger than the fron-front cupholder(12oz can of Pepsi only). I can even wedge a 1 liter Pepsi bottle into the top so it'll stay. Oh, btw, I drink Pepsi. lol.

Honestly, unless you're after the look, converting the rear brakes to disc isn't necessary. As you may know the majority of the braking is done in the front... There is question as to whether the master cylinder would be able to move enough fluid for the discs as well... Just some thoughts... Doing the fronts would be a GREAT idea though...

yeah, it's pretty much for the looks. I hate rusty rotors, and painting them electric blue won't look much better. But electric blue brake calipers looks great. go figure. (If you hadn't noticed I'm gonna go with blue trim when I detail it.)
