Hi all, This is my first post. I just bought an 03 baseline Vibe with 64k on it. I test drove it and had it checked out and everything seemed fine. However! The day after I bought it I left for a trip and came back 4 days later. The first drive was terrible. A gargling sound came from the engine when I put it in reverse and then continued as I drove around 20-30 around the block. Since then I've noticed the sound returns after it has been sitting overnight.Once the car has "warmed up" (shouldn't really be needed here in Texas), it drives really smooth.Any ideas on what this could be?Oil is good, but I'm 200 miles away from a change. Trans fluid is good. Thanks,Matt

welcome!hmmm you should start the car put it in reverse and when you hear that sound, put it in park and leave it running, pop the hood and then poke around in the engine compartment to try to figure out what part is causing that. could be coolant that is low.....

How many miles are on it. It could be the front brake pads

The sound could be a bad belt tensioner. The sound comes and goes at different speeds and thus rpms. Just a thought.

Hi and welcome!Gurgling sound, like WATER gurgling? If so, check your coolant, you could be low. My Subaru does this all the time, but i know what that problem is.... Do you get a "water" wooshing sound when you rev the engine in park?
