Anyone tried the PA11-GM iPod adapter?

After many hours of hand-wringing over how to connect my iPod to my 2006 with the 6-CD changer, I think I may have stumbled on to the solution:
http://www.icarkits.com/produc...id=60It says it will work with any 2006 Vibe factory stereo, even the 6-CD changer. Has anyone else tried this solution and had any luck? I'm thinking about asking my wife to get this for me for Father's Day. If it works, it's well worth $160. If not, I guess I will do a wired FM modulator, though that's not the ideal solution.

No. But please post back with results, if you try it. I'm in the same situation (2006 Vibe w/ 6 disc changer).-Joe

Well, I broke down and bought one to try it out. Confusing manual, but that's about what I expect for this stuff. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to work. My HU would never recognize the adapter and enable the CD changer. Oh well. I guess I'll be calling tech support tomorrow. Maybe others have had better luck.-Joe

Woohoo! After a call to tech support I picked up a key piece of information that allowed me to configure the PA11-GM correctly. It works perfect! Sound quality is CD perfect. What the manual did a horrible job of explaining is that if you already have a 6 disk changer, then you MUST use the XM interface mode. Simple.

Are the 2007 Vibes with the 6-CD changer similar enough to the 2006s to use this? My girlfriend's Vibe is so quiet without any iPod input, as I don't have any CDs.

Thanks for the super fast reply, VforVIBE. I'll have to order one of these as we're going for a 5 hour drive in about a week.I'm sure I'll be lurking around here as I search out information on this great little car

I'm attempting to install my PA11-GM in the 07 Vibe with the 6CD changer, and I'm not having any luck. I'm not exactly sure of which DIP switch combination to use. I've tried a bunch to no avail. I think it may be an issue that this 6CD changer isn't XM ready...Any help is appreciated.

I just got my PA11-GM today and will be attempting an install tonight. I'll report back and let you know what I find out. I have a 2006 w/ the 6-CD changer (Sun & Sounds package). I think my radio is XM-ready since the toggle switch has AM/FM and CD/AUX. JoeT was able to get it to work in XM mode, so that's what I'm going to try first.

I emailed USA Spec asking for some info, and I'll post their reply once I get it.

Well I got it installed and...nothing.It talks to the iPod, but not to the stereo. I tried the XM and CD Changer modes and nothing works. I'll be calling tech support tonight to get it fixed. Would have called last night, but by the time I finished the install, they were closed. I'll keep you guys posted.

Bad news. I called USA Spec tech support and apparently, if your radio isn't XM-ready, this adapter will not work, even in CD changer mode. The way to tell is on the Band/CD/Aux rocker switch. If the button says "Band" this adapter works fine. I assume that's the radio that JoeT has. My radio says "AM/FM" and I was told that it will not accept external input. Turns out, I have the ONE radio on GMJap's list (
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=21818) that will not accept any external input (D4). So, back to the drawing board. I have only had this car for 2 months and really don't want to have to install a new deck that is iPod compatible or start cutting wires to do the hardwire hack, but I will shoot myself if I am forced to use the iTrip in order to use my iPod in my Vibe. I'd rather have a stereo with a cassette player - at least those adapters work! Maybe the dealer will trade me an XM-ready deck for mine for a small fee. I'll keep right on dreaming about that one...Boo to you, Pontiac/GM! It's not like MP3 players haven't been around for 8 or 9 years. How hard is it to add a freaking Aux port (or allow us to install one) that works? At least the seller is refunding my money (iCarKits.com). They were very cool about the whole issue. Well, I'm off to rip my dash apart again so I can uninstall this POS stereo and unhook the adapter so I can send it back. What a complete waste of time and effort.

My radio says "CD/Aux", not "AM/FM", but based on GMJAP's list, it seems my 07 is that D4 category. Oh well, I'll have to see what I can do also. I'll keep you all updated with my progress, and I hope you all do the same. Thanks for the info, TeeDubb, I really appreciate it, as I haven't had a chance to call USASPEC as their business hours are the same as when I'm at work.

Hey Regal, I broke down and installed a hardwired FM modulator. It sounds great - much, much better than my crappy iTrip. I still have to control the music on the iPod and it doesn't keep it charged, but I am just happy that it works and sounds good. I'm pretty pleased with it overall. I still need to mount the switch for it and I want to get a better looking one than the one that came with it. I'm sending back my PA11-GM. Good luck!

I ended up swapping the single CD headunit from my dad's 2006 Vibe to my girlfriend's 2007 Vibe. She now has the PA11-GM working in her Vibe, while my dad has the 6CD changer (he listens to AM radio only, so he was more than willing to swap). The PA11-GM works nicely. I haven't put more than an hour or so in to it, but so far I'm pleased.
