Supercharger's Installed-Wuhoo!
Posted: Sun Jun 10, 2007 6:19 am
by kevera
I got it all installed today .It took just under 5 hours from start to finish. It was relatively easy to do.The hardest part of the install was the crank pulley bolt-which is torqued to 150lbs and removing all the electrical tape for the wiring harness and reading the instructions. Here's a pic of the intake off, another,This pic is after the TRD "Camry V6" thermostat install,This one is with the supercharger installed and adding some Toyota coolant, and another side view, notice the neat wire routing as the harness is run threw here to the firewall. This is it totally installed and working great, looks sexy,I had to use the stock air box(I'm not to happy about)but it does come with a cold air extension tube,so it simulates a CAI with the stock air box.The only problem I had was the bracket for the cold air tube, the bracket did not line up properly. So I will have to drill to make it fit.I am also undecided about cutting the black engine cover.I'm exploring my options on something else to use.Wuhoo, all done. The power increase is really noticeable and smooth. The whine of the s/c is like music to my ears.I am glad I did it myself,as I see the benefits two fold.Don't be scared to tackle this because if I could do it,so can you.

All this talk of superchargers is making me thirsty for f/i. Yesterday it became official. I am not spending money on any frivolous items until I have a supercharger under my hood. I even made a little chart so I can track my savings. The quest for the supercharger begins!

Sweet! Good job! Looks great! I would have stuck with GM parts too if I did it!Next is to get it Dyno'ed! I just got one of my cars Dyno'ed, pretty cool thing to do too! $75 for three pulls...

wow! $75?? there is a 2wd dyno here and he does 3 pulls for $100. i can't use it since i'm awd.

Yeah $75! I was quoted $500 for a tune and pulls from another place. I said no way and then a friend told be about this place. I thought of you because the place did not have an AWD dyno. My Corvette is making 330 HP and 340 Lbs Tq. at the rear wheels! They assume the engine is 380 HP. I am happy with those numbers!

I am happy with those numbers! i wish! nice numbers for sure. and doesn't take much to jump those up to something.Kev, if you can find a reputable tuner, i would highly recommend it. just make sure you don't heat soak the car prior to dynotuning. let it cool down and breathe.

Where can I find a supercharger for my 2007 Vibe? I saw a used one that came off from a 2005 Vibe. Would that fit and is it recommended to use a used one? Thanks!

What HP gains do you estimate you achieved? Also, do you mind sharing the cost of the parts? I'm assuming that is aftermarket, and not provided by GM performance. Also, that would probably be something you want to do AFTER warranty has expired no doubt?

Your warranty is only good if the dealer installed it, trust me I know, I replaced my engine myself after they refused to warranty a snapped rod! Ask anyone here or search my posts.

JUST DO IT! lol I don't know if you planned to do the install yourself or what, but I can get you in contact with the guywho helped me install mine. He will probably do it for 1/4 of the price you would pay someone else to do it, and he's done quite a few of them!

Dude, you never installed that s/c yet.You should have sold it to me at the time. The longer it sits in the box,it will turn to Jello. It's not that hard to install.Read the instructions over and over---then do it.Or drive up to Canada, and I'll help you.

Hey, what kind of gas mileage are you getting now with the s/c?

Not bad,if you drive normal. If you punch it all the time, the needle will drop.Average is 27-30 range.I'm not worried about gas mileage on the Vibe though,I don't drive it all the time.
