Hi all,Bought my '07 vibe about a week and a half ago: Frosty White, automatic, power pkg, everything else is stock. I've got some Eagle Alloy wheels and roof rack cross pieces coming. Love the car so far. Are there any possible problems I should keep an eye out for? Also, is there a way to kill the seatbelt beeper? (car manufacturers really should quit treating us all like small children). I'll try to get som pix going as soon as I can.

Hi!I've had my '06 Vibe Since July of '06...great for a commuting graduate student like myself (driving 400+ miles a week). I am not sure what I really want to do with my vibe as far as modifying it...always looking for suggestions.-Tracy

haha well I am a member of other forums that try to cut down on repostings of things...so I just did a brief thing saying I am the owner of a new 06 vibe since July of 2006.

Thanks all for the welcome (and the info on the seatbelt chime). My Eagle Alloys are 5 spoke chrome (#192). I know it's an older style, but I'm a little old school. Once they're installed, I'll post some pix.

welcome to the new members. always glad to have more join. GVC is a great community and we will ALWAYS be willing to tell you how to spend your money. LOL.my suggestions:Appearance:tint (20-35% looks nice), wheels/tires (suggest 17's), grafxwerks decals or debadging, mr grille inserts (from ebay), spoilers (top)Performance:intake (full cold air intake vs short ram- Injen if available), exhaust (Magnaflow), Engine Management if available (Unichip or Greddy Emanage)Ultra Performance:TRD/GM supercharger (1zz only), turbo (either 1zz or 2zz but expensive) and supporting modsSuspension:Rear Sway Bar (Progress or Hotchkis), Springs (Tein S-techs or TRD) or coilovers ($$$), Front strut Tower Bar (much debate on this, but I have found on 2 Vibes they work well)

New members have posted pictures of there stock Vibe's and then look back after they do some of there mod's. So stock picture are good....nuvibe

eh, it is a slow go...because I am a girl....I have minimal money at times and I do not know really anything about modifying aspects like suspension or performance.my boyfriend is into dropped chevys....I am not really going to ask him for help...I dont want to look stupid.

In other word's, he will say "your a keeper" once you start asking about car's stuff. Why wont you start by tinting your window's and then add a stereo system, wheel's. Not all at once but in do time as one can afford it, just a general idea....nuvibe

I am trying to price out certain things....some places offer student discounts....I am technically still a student he he he (even if I am almost done with my master's). I just want rough estimates cause I am not sure if it would be worth getting tint then putting in a sunroof.....or just trying the sunroof and no tint....or screw both of them and do something else...ahah idk i am indecisivethen again maybe I am just upset they discontinued the fun and sun package before i got a chance to get it

Be careful with the sunroof idea hun. I know that things have improved for the materials and workmanship with install, but if the car did not come with a sunroof, you are looking at the potential for leaks and other issues. You may not even notice the leak until your whole headliner decides to sag down one day, then you can be in trouble having to replace all of that.A typical sunroof job will run you approximately $1,100-$1,700 depending on what features you want; tinted glass, tilt/slide feature, auto open or close (i.e. one-touch). You are not just paying for them to cut a whole in your roof and drop in some seals and glass, but they also take out the whole headliner to install the tracks and wiring, switches, etc. It's a big job.For tint, be sure to check out your state laws, here in CT it is 35% on the sides any% in the back for maximum darkness, and if you have a 4 door car, the front two windows cannot be tinted. Nobody follows that law though. I went with 35% last time all around, you can still see in during the day with a nice smoked look, and at night it looks fairly dark. Darker interiors also help to make a lighter tint look darker. Be sure to ask around and get pricing, also ask about graphite tints, they last longer and have a better look to them than standard film does. Most places will make a template with paperboard of your window on the outside, then cut the film and install. Actually, your not that far from me being in Rochester, I can recommend some local guys up my way, it's like an hour away I think. Btw NY state law sows 70% on the sides and any% on the back. there is a place called the tint shop http://www.tintshop.com around here....looking at the site you gave me it looks like I can only go 30% dark in the front and whatever in the back....I kinda of what it to look uniform (front and back)...idk about the whole two tone type of thing

Why not make it all the same legal tint all the way around the car instead of just no tint at all.... nuvibe

One of the easiest and least expensive do-it-yourself beginner mods is seat covers. I know it sounds corny, but as a girl trying to 'break into' car modding, start small and inexpensive and you'll be hooked in no time.Hope has DEFINITELY inspired me to do more mods myself rather than pay a shop to do it all. (plus it's cheaper that way!) I have the "if she can do this so can I!" attitude. It also helps to have a friend/boyfriend who's comfortable working on cars on stand-by just in case something goes weird on you.

I agree... having 2 different tint shades looks wierd imo. On my LGT, i had 35% front and 20% rear, then had them redo the fronts to 20% as well. Thanks. also, as suggested, it's really easy to do simply mods yourself. I started off with the interior and some fun exterior things like the Grafxwerks overlays. then decided to debadge the car. I installed the leather interior kit myself and though it wasn't too difficult, it was extremely time consuming, something that I don't have the luxury of doing anymore. If I did, I'd be doing a fiberglass box for the trunk of my car since there's a great how to in my legacy forums. do a search here and you will see there are a lot of threads to help you do simple and sometimes more complicated mods. though I love to do mods myself, i no longer have as much time and rely on hubby and our subie techs to do the big stuff. in fact, Mavrik has banned me from touching the engine bay (unless to clean it) because our good friends Dale and Jerry (they are the main Subie techs at the dealer) had to go back and redo almost everything we did when I did my STI swap. THere was lots of cursing and saying my name in vain. LOL. Obviously, you may not be as lucky as me to have trained professionals available at a quick phone call willing to do work for next to nothing. Phil has done a lot on my car actually, including helping do the Brembo front brakes, the entire coilover and spring swap, amidst other things. I do the electronics and tinkering for them to go back and fix what I mess up. I just have to get my hands dirty every now and again. Plus, i enjoy it and it's something that both Phil and I can do together and with friends.We have found GVC to be a great supportive site to its members, regardless of mods or no mods. Joatman is completely stock, yet is one of the most contributing member on this site. Don't feel like you HAVE to modify your car. Sure we may give some slack to some others on here, but hey, it's a forum and that's just what people do. Enjoy your new cars and enjoy the unlimited wealth of knowledge on this site. and of course, please post pics! before and after pics are always great!

welcomes fellow freak...you did a good choice on buying a good, no scratch that, AN AWESOME ,GREAT car. i too am somewhat of a newbie on this home for vibe families. so i guess i can say..."welcome home" you can always count on for any info or help you need here with your new family. and yesh...like some have said...freakazoid was an awesome show...if that is what ur refering to in this case.

Being a student, your already in "learn" mode, learn everything you can... You gotta cool car, well worth the time to mod, start asking questions, here and to the BF, i mean come on, i could only DREAM to have a GF that was as into cars (or even close) as me... It WOULD be a match made in heven... So, your cars stock, post some pics with YOU and the car to spice it up (not trying to be a wierdo or anyhting) I'm guessing the best mod you've already done was get behind the wheel.. I donno about the rest of the guys here, but there is nothing more sexy to a CAR guy than a girl with car interests, i don't know your BF though, he could be different... again, not tryin to be a freak here, just honest...

Actually, freakazoid was my nickname back in high school (that long-haired freakazoid). Didn't know there was a show. I'll have to look it upBut I digress....I just put a set of roof rack crossbars on (stock GM - expensive, but I like the look). I'm still waiting for my wheels to come in. I'll post som pix when I get them mounted.
