Involved in a car accident today :(

I was in a 5 car accident today driving to Duluth to go look for a new apartment and hwy 35 merged to 1 lane so every one was slowing down. People in front of me slowed sort of fast myself and the people in front of me stopped in time. Then I looked in my rear view mirror and there were 3 cars semi swerving and coming up very fast. Then BAM nailed my car from behind hard, and I slid into the car infront of me. The lady who started it must have been going pretty fast, because her car was the only one to be totally totalled and made 4 other cars slam into each other. My head and neck hurt for a bit so I went to the urgency clinic and they said it was just strained muscle and tendions. I got some pics heres the damage, this just is the worst time ever. Just after the accident (5 min after) I got a call from my new employer asking me when I could start. The reason for me to come up to Duluth was to look at a couple of apartments I found and this incident took over 3 hours including the urgency care appointment so I will have to wait until tomorrow to call the apartments places.]The back end doesnt look bad, it was the blazer that hit me in th back. I think it just popped back out.

Bummer, man, but glad to hear you are OK. Looks like a fairly easy fix, keep us posted!

It pushed the headlight in some so its touching the metal frame part, but dont know if that is just the headlight or part of the frame too. So it should just need a hood, front bumper, headlight and passanger fender. Then the rear needs a new bumper and that stuff underneath it because I would assume that got crushed in. I still have a slight head ache but yea glad im okay and it wasnt more serious. But this totally ruins my plans to start my job next week, so hopefully I get a rental car from the lady that started this wreck.

Man, NV that sucks. I'm so sorry to hear that. People drive SO fast on I35--it doesn't surprise me that that happened!I hope you can get things straightened out, find an apartment, and start the new job--this should be a great fun time for you, not stressful like this! I hope everything works out ok, and quickly!

Wow, that sucks. This stuff always happens at the worst times. You should have no problem getting a rental to start your new job. As long as the lady who hit you has insurance, it shouldn't cost you anything but a little time.

That does suck, and I am glad you are ok.... but on the bright side, you have some fog lamps that won't quit... I mean, most of ours crack if we look at them wrong... yours hit another car and they didn't even scratch...I am kidding, hopefully you will be back on the road in no time.

Question for you guys. I called my insurance and I am suppose to file a claim against the person who started the accident. Well I went to the trooper station I just visited said theres a no fault law in MN. Well its her fault for her smashing 3 of us, so just wanted to see what everyone else was thinking. The trooper is suppose to call me when they get ahold of him to see who was at fault. thanks! oh today my head and neck feel fine glad I wasnt hurt. and yes that stupid fog light didnt break! hahah Probably because i lowered my car so it missed it. Anyone know when the airbags deploy? like if i didnt lower my car would they of deployed? hitting that part of the bumper.

Glad you're okay, though the situation blows.Airbags don't usually deploy unless it's a pretty hard hit. My wife got T-boned by some jerk who failed to yield on a left turn, and her Camry was totalled but the side airbag didn't go off. Fortunately she was OK (a couple bruised ribs). Had the car checked out and were told it wasn't a severe enough hit to activate the bags.I was also in a wreck with my last car that did much more front-end damage to it than yours has, and airbag didn't go off.You really don't want it to go off unless you need it. You can get some good bruising and minor injuries just from it going off; it's pretty violent.

I'm sorry to hear about your car, but am glad to hear you're OK!Looking at the pics, it doesn't look like it's enough damage for airbag deployment. I hope you get it fixed soon!

I think no-fault means everyone's insurance covers themselves, no matter whose fault the accident was...which sucks.

yeah kari that is BS because I was just sitting there and she rear ended 3 people well 1 then 2 because of her. My insurance company is going to go and do all the work of getting money from her or who ever to cover this. But the problem is I start my job next week in Duluth but Im currently in the Twin Cities, so which city to fix it :/ might have to leave the car in the TC and get a ride up to duluth and have my friends tote me around :/ My neck and head are feeling way better sorta sore on my back of my neck but im glad i wasnt hurt anymore than that.

damn that sucks... glad you're ok though. out of all of the vibes i've seen or heard of that were in accidents, all of the passengers were able to get away without serious injuries. i love these cars as mentioned above, airbags can be nasty. back in 2003, i was going about 40mph and t-boned a lady that ran a red light, and since my left hand was on the wheel at about 12:00 when the airbag went off, my hand flew up and the ring i had on cracked the crap outta the windshield. and the compressed gas in the airbag or whatever it was gave me some nasty cottonmouth btw i think you should pull out your fogs n give one to me n one to another genviber

Glad you weren't hurt, and the damage doesn't look too severe. It seems to me that there has been a bunch of rear-enders lately, to Vibes that have been stopped in traffic.Anyone else think that drivers are just getting worse every day?Or is it just that we are all so busy, that there is a problem with other drivers not paying enough attention?

Now any yahoo who gets "certified" as an instructor can give people driving "tests" and okay them for a license..

Glad to hear you weren't hurt. Sounds like a lot of Vibes crashing lately. I've averted a number of accidents lately, mostly red light runners (Phoenix is the capital of red light runners). Mine was almost totaled last week, when the light was yellow for 3 seconds (out of 4) and the intersection was clear for all 3 seconds, so I started to go. Well, oncoming turn lane traffic was blocking my view so it's always a crapshoot turning there, even after the light turns red. Anyway, I get a bad feeling, so I stop my turn and sure enough, an SUV blows through at 40-50 MPH. Whew! I just wonder how long I can keep dodging these idiots...

I know when I called pontiac after my aciddent (my antilocks didn't work, and I was making sure they were suppost to) I asked about the aribag, and they said it won't go off unless you are going over 25 MPH. There was a couple other things that determine if it will go off, but they say that's the main factor cause going that slow.... the airbag would hurt more than it would help.

I was involved in a freak accident in November of 06....a large bathroom tile came flying out of the back of a Utility truck....it bounced across the road (I had no choice of swirving or anything as it was on a highway)...it bounced across the road end over end then struck my vibe right in the license plate--cutting it right in half and puncturing the bumper behind it.What sucked was that I was able to get the guy's license plate but since I was the only witness nothing could of been done to get him in trouble for not securing his items. My bumper is now fixed but the license plate was just hammered out straight...it looks stupid I think that if I stepped on my brakes it would have rolled up my hood and into the winshield where I could of been really hurt

TraySeeLea,That sucks! Accidents are that, they totally ruin that time in your life...well depending on the accident I'm refering to car ones Well I got the quotes from the body shop and ETA. Looks like Im with out my car for another week. I hope the kindness of my friends driving me around can last that long as long as I have money to pay them The main problem was they couldnt find any part refurbished. So ALL the parts have to be ordered new, good for the vibe bad for timing.

Do you know where I can get one like it, and what's it worth?I got my grille from http://www.mrgrille.com/MrGril....htmlThey have them for both 03-04 and 05+ models. I think I ended up paying about 75-90 bucks for mine either from the website or from ebay which has them too. I hope the body shop doesnt forget and puts my grilles on the new front end
