my Vibe got smushed (pics apply now)

So I'm driving down Main St in Rochester with my b/f coming up to the stop light with cars in front of me, I look into my rear view mirror to see a Dodge Durango not coming to a stop.....at all. With no where to turn the car to, right before I know it ...bam...sandwiched between him and the Jeep Liberty in front of me pushing her on the other side of the intersection. Never have I been so PISSED off and shaken at the same time in my life. With only suffering a really bad headache right now I will say i'm truly lucky that nothing happened to either myself or my boyfriend. What really ticks me off is that this guy NEVER got a ticket and the police officer NEVER even asked me if i was okay...do you see something wrong with this picture? And you know what the guy tells the cop, "my foot slipped off the brake and hit the gas" and still this guy doesn't get a ticket...its like hello...pay attention to what the hell you are doing. Some things under the hood (along with the hood) are smashed and the hatch is caved in. No big bumper damage but I will say my car suffered the most I would say a couple thousand dollars worth of damage but the verdict wont come in til i know what is goin on with the insurance. All I gotta say is drive safe out there please, we don't need any more idiot drivers on the road!

It is bad news about the car, but trivial compared to the good news that you weren't hurt bad. If you have anything develop, or have any lingering effects, get them checked out. Also good you didn't go homicidal on the druango driver.looks like I get to be the first to say "Post some pics"I can only imagine how angry you must be, and I hope the insurance gets you squared away quickly. even if the idiot didn't get a ticket, there is no way for anyones insurance to claim he wasn't at fault.

I'm so sorry to hear that!! I hope they will fix it for you!! I'm glad you both were OK!! I know what you mean about the STUPID people...Last week I was waiting at an intersection for a light (my lane and the one on the right of me both turned right. But I was in the left lane because the gas station I was going to was on the left side of the road right after the light.) So my light finally changes to green, and I check for pedestrians and carefully make my way through the intersection. All of a sudden, I have the back end of a lexus *ALMOST* hit me because the idiot old man moved over from the right lane right through the intersection. I punched my horn and didn't let go. He was totally oblivious that someone might actually wait for that light to turn there. He looked like he had no idea he did something so stupid and why I was so P.O.'d. So he goes straight, but at the last minute decides he's going to turn where I'm turning. Oh goodie...I get to tell him off. So he cuts me off again, and I'm glaring at him through rear-view mirrors. The light in front of the gas station turns green. Nobody is in front of him, but he comes to a complete stop before turning into the gas station driveway (across from the one I'm going to) since he's blocking the road, I punch my horn again, then drive around him. I drive by wanting to say get off the f......road, but his windows were up. He still had no clue how much of a dangerous idiot he is...

hey sorry to hear about your accident and glad you are OK.. any pics of the damage? how new is your vibe? only reason i ask is i had someone hit my vibe from the side and it ended up being just under 3 grand in parts/labor, insurance took care of it, but looks can be very deceiving. also did you get a copy of the police report?did he write a statement?as long as it says you were rear-ended its his fault and your insurance co. will go after him for the money.. i hope you dont have too high of a deductible, but ur ins co can probably even get you that back, and because its not ur fault you shouldnt see a rise in ur insurance.

man i'm sorry to hear that. for your neck pain issue, go get x-rays at the chiropractor or somewhere and get treated ASAP. you won't have to pay a cent, they'll bill the insurance company

Alright got some pics...so maybe I over-estimated the damage a lil bit (probably because I was so furious and upset when I got into the accident) but still....I really miss my car already They did give me a grand prix for a rental though So i'm still in the pontiac family

I agree with Joat, looks like a fixer; if the airbags had popped it might be a different story. How are you both feeling today?

I'm glad you're OK, and sorry to hear (and see) about your VIBE.Absolutely get to a doctor or chiropractor for some x-rays and to check that everything is ok.I'm really surprised the idiot that plowed into you didn't get ticketed or something, that bites. You may find that you are now really vigilant about who and what is behind you when you are stopped.I still get a little nervous when I'm stopped and I see some car coming up behind me, I can feel my heart start to beat faster, and I'm totally focused on behind me, and nothing else. I've even stopped mid-sentence with the wife until the car comes to a stop behind me.It's a little freaky.

That's b/s that he didn't get a ticket. Suposedly in accidents in MI atleast someone HAS to get a ticket. When I rear ended that Liberty because the ambulance ran the red light on the cross street and the people in front of me slammed on the brakes I was the one that got the ticket, and my car was the one with the most damage.Hopefully you get her back up and running soon though

99% of the time if you are hit from behind it is the other persons fault. Unless you are backing out of a parking space and not paying attention. You should put a complaint to the PD for not issuing them a ticket. Cause based on the damage an estimator can determine the guys speed which I'm sure was a factor. He can totally get tickets for :Failure to observe a traffic signalTraveling at an unsafe distance from the car in front of you.Obstructing and intersectionThere are a few others that he could possibly get as well. I would totally send a complaint in because it is going to make it that much harder for insurance to settle because they will dispute and dispute. I'm glad you are ok though, you and your bf. I am always getting nagged by my gf for looking in my rear view and side views and people are always telling me to not worry about the people behind me, HA! I can name numerous occasions where me stopping or slowing down and noticing the guy behind me not doing the same so I have had to move over or pull aside or pull up more to avoid those types of incidents.
