03 GT supercharging possiblities

So from the base of what I've seen among forum postings here it sounds like the AWD model will accept a S/C but with possible drivetrain problems?? I work for a GM shop and I am wondering what kinds of things go wrong with the drivetrain? Like snapping the whole drive axle assembly? And what about someone running his engine too lean?? I am newbie @ the Vibe details but I know general mechanics not too badly. ECU/ECM upgrades? Exhaust upgrades? where do i get all this? lol if someone perhaps and master Vibe modder could pm msg me or something that'd be great cause I have got LOTS of questions

First of all... Welcome to Genvibe! The best piece of advice I can give you is use the SEARCH feature. All of the things you are asking about have been discussed before. There's lots of info around here I don't see how adding the supercharger would be a issue for the drivetrain... It doesn't add that much power. To add it to an AWD Vibe you'll need an adapter plate so it will fit the intake manifold. Just search and you're sure to find what you're looking for.

should have no problem with the AWD and a SC. the guy who burned his up running too lean had his tuned in a way that made it do that, just use the provided tunes and should be fine.as far as exhaust, you will have to do that custom, which is usually cheaper anyway. there are no aftermarket exhaust kits for any year AWD.

Welcome to GenVibe! The TRD S/C can be installed on the AWD, and does not require an adapter plate. All AWD's are Cable Throttle. You should run it with the stock intake on the AWD. (No CAI/SRI). Aftermarket 2-1/4" exhaust is recommended. I would also hollow out the first Cat which is inside the AWD header (extremely restrictive). Use the TRD S/C piggyback ecu. Get gauges as well.(A/F, Boost & EGT). Get an aftermarket tranny cooler and don't try to get more out of the S/C than it will give you. If you do, you will have more of a risk of needing to replace the tranny or even the engine if not tuned properly. There are guys that have been running the S/C for 2-3 years with only regular maintenence. Do all of this and you should be fine.Greenfire on MO(www.matrixowners.com), blew his engine a couple years ago while having a S/C on his AWD Matrix. He was using an aftermarket piggyback to control the fuel, he was not tuned properly, ran lean and it blew.Trevinous on MO just took his S/C off his AWD Matrix and sold it a month ago after having it on for a year. He ran his stock with no problems. He said it ran great and was a blast to drive. He sold it because he was offered twice what he paid for it. (I would have done the same. lol.)BTW, The Toyota Matrix is the same car as the Vibe. Mostly just a different exterior. If you didn't already know.

So I don't need the adaptor plate on an 03GT?(Are all GTs AWD??) and are all 03 GT's 170hp? The adaptor plate.......with the GMPP kit must I use the adaptor plate? I must know forsure so i can tell my mechanics what their doin if I get that Vibe. Can't I just run a stock ECU? Or is that much really changed with F/I'ing a Vibe? Upgrades are the unichip piggy back? that be the safest around from what I've researched.....keep posting what you kno

There is no way that Vibe is a 6spd manual.....it's a manual but no way it's a 6spd.....possible that Canada was send different models? That does occur ALOT with the automotive world.....Canada gets it differently to work with "Gov" regulations here......I know of it being 5 spd but not a 6spd.....I will have to investigate this, it's definately a Vibe GT tho and I don't have it yet. Possibly trading in my Elantra cause the power windows went and I've got no warrenty anymore so if anything else goes wrong I'm screwed. I'ma student with very scarce amounts of money. Plus I work for GM and nobody in the shop knows how to work on my Elantra. I'm trying to make life easier.

Also if it is AWD then it is an auto tranny only.GT is a 6-speed manual only,Base is either a 5 speed manual or auto tranny. If is is a GT then the TRD S/C wil NOT work on it.It has a different engine. Your only F/I options are N2O or Turbo.

you need to do a lot more research. if it's 6MT, it's a GT. not tons of a/m support on the 2zz engine unfortunately, however for about $7K usd, you can get a turbo set up. otherwise, i'd recommend:Cold air intake (CAI)ExhaustEngine management (unichip or otherwise)

I hear ya AKLGT it seems like only few power mods I could do.....I figure I should be able to get over 200hp.....if so I'd be happy......I'd want to lower it too and I'm hoping I can take my rims off my Lantra and put it on the vibe. The exhaust I'll get custom done and I'm also thinking stainless steel headers/highflow cat and a I guess a simple unichip would be fine.

200hp will not be an easy accomplishment.

200 bhp can be done with I/H/E/ECM. but at the wheels?? no. you'd need f/i for that.

bah i hate to say it but i found out i can get a fully load G5 4dr with everything i want brand new for $20kCND so if I sell my Lantra I'll get the pursuit. They want $16K for a used Vibe in a color i don't want and it just had the engine replaced...eek, plus what i've already heard about the clutch scares me away from this Vibe......sry, thx for all the help tho, good luck with your vibes
