Hey got myself a 06 vibe auto and when i first start it it's idles around 2 maybe 2.3, but if you let it warm up for about 20 mins it drops down in the time to around 1. Is this normal?

Yup, they get prett crazy with the idle speed. They all do it. *shrug*It's a weird feeling and can make it a bit tough to keep the car from getting away with you. But not much we can do about it, other than wait for it to warm up then it's good. Welcome aboard, btw!

side note: it really really really shouldn't be necessary to warm-up idle your car for 20 minutes... it's just a huge waste of gas, really. 30 seconds in warm weather is more than enough... 1 or 2 minutes when it's below freezing. It'll warm up as you drive

The quickest way to warm any vehicle up is to drive it, not let it idle. Just drive easy while it is warming up. And yes, welcome to the group.

Yes, it is normal. Mine starts idle at around 1.8-2.0k RPM, but will drop down as soon as it's put into gear. The OM says it's OK to start driving after 10 seconds of idle; or a few minutes if below freezing (don't think that means 20mins). My drive is pretty slow getting down to the corner and then through the neighborhood out to the highway. As mentioned by djb383 drive easy until it reaches operating temp and all is good.
